I was really looking forward to visit this place. Checked it a few times on facebook and was excited that such a beautiful restaurant exist in this area. Causy, modern and worm looking place. We received a warm welcome and were sited by our table. 3 adults and 2 kids. Order some kids chicken breast with mash potato's, Chicken Cesar Salad and 2 Pulled Duck burgers. No option to order non alcoholic beer so we've sticked with a bottles of still water and coke. I was a bit amazed with the mixture of kind of luxury and little PLASTIC 0,25 bottled water, which looks like the one you are getting for free on a plane or a train. I had a mixed feelings about it. By looking at the place and the prices, I would expect at least glass bottles not even mentioning about brands like Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino instead of the Vivien water. Our food arrived. Everything looks great. We were starving so You can imagine how excited we were to eat it all. Duck burger taste delicious but unfortunately was far from hot. Such a shame. Only 2 tables in the house and Chef couldn't put the time to serve a nice warm meal. In general it was really delicious so we ate it all. Chicken Cesar tasted a bit undercooked, but in general my guest liked it. Presented with a finesse. After the main course we've ordered all 3 desserts. Mi Italian guest wasn't impressed with his pana cotta. My chocolate mousse was quite nice, white chocolate dessert had this fake taste in it. Interesting but bland in taste. As Bland as this dessert was our waiter, who didn't even care when I told him about our cold burgers. I didn't expect a refund as we ate it all, but acknowledgment that this message will get to the chef. You could imagine that service would nice and welcoming and match the interior of this place but no, don not count on that. I was Seriously shocked when discovered on our bill charges for condiments. First time i was dining in the restaurant which seems to ba a high end restaurant and charging for ketchup and mayo. 10% service include in a bill - Please let me judge on how much money the server should get. How you want to encourage a good service when the server doesn't even need to work for his gratuity. We drove over an hour to this place with high hopes. And left with a feeling of a...
Read moreOne of the more elegant restaurants in the Tokaj wine region. The food is OK but nothing to write home about. It’s above average modern fare—think sous vide filets with interesting purées. It has no soul and no elements are particularly local. The only wine they offer by the glass is their own, Chateau Dereszla. The bottle list is extensive, featuring many wines from other Tokaj wineries and from other regions as well. However, the first bottle I requested was no longer available. The second bottle I requested (2018 hárslevelű) was available, but was served warm with no explanation. The facility is beautiful. The building, on the bank of the Bodrog River, imitates the structure of a barn. The food is prepared in a performance kitchen with a large window right onto the chef. The service was courteous but unprofessional. The waiters did not mention that the bottle of white wine we ordered was not chilled, and they tried to quickly chill it in a bucket of ice. The result was that we waited 15 minutes for the bottle of wine, which was served warm. Besides that, it was clear that the wait staff was more interested in being downstairs smoking cigarettes than serving the customers. There was a 20 minute period after we ordered dessert when there was not a single waiter/waitress on the floor. Our dessert never arrived, and when they finally came back from smoking downstairs, they apologized, but never...
Read moreOverall, I would rate our recent visit to Dereszla Bisztró as a great success. It is a place with a wonderful atmosphere that offers a high-level culinary experience.
Food and Service: The gastronomy was flawless. The food was delicious, creatively prepared, and made from fresh ingredients. The service was equally top-notch – the staff was attentive, prompt, and very pleasant, which significantly contributed to the positive impression.
Observations for Improvement: I identified two minor shortcomings. The first is the parking capacity, which is quite limited. Although we eventually found a spot, it could be a challenge during busier times.
The second observation relates to the indoor seating during the afternoon. Around 3:00 PM, the setting sun was shining directly into our eyes, which was rather unpleasant and reduced our comfort. A simple solution like blinds or curtains would elegantly solve this issue.
Conclusion: Despite these two small details, our experience was excellent. Dereszla Bisztró is an establishment worth visiting for its quality cuisine and first-class service. We will gladly return and highly...
