I came here after whale watching at the recommendation of a colleague of mine at HA in Akureyri (Akureyri local). It was the last day the restaurant was open for the season (they close for winter apparently). I had the best fish and chips of my life (pictured). The fish is made with the salted cod prepared at the factory just down the road and was probably caught either that morning or the day before. Seriously, this place set the standard to which all other will be measured against. I've had fish and chips all over the US east coast, Canada, Wales, Portugal, Spain...nothing even comes close. It was the perfect balance of batter, salt, and fluffy cod.
The cake in the photo is the Happy Wedding Cake(?)...with a coffee it was amazing. They were out of the cheesecake, but no complaints here. There is a Ruhbarb jam in the middle. If you are in Akureyri and want to whale watch, go to Hauganes. Make a day of it with the baths right there on some of the most scenic views you can find. Eat at this place, you will not be...

We got a number 4, fish and chips and a number 5, salted fish and chips. Both were extremely fresh and tasty.
The staff speaks both English and Icelandic and were friendly, knowledgable while also giving the patrons space and not hovering over tables.
The atmosphere was relaxed with easy going music, the restroom looks decent and there's free WiFi.
The pricing is fair since the portions were quite large and all sodapop came in their original bottles.
The restaurant also sells admission into the hot tubs next to it. We didn't go ourselves but took a look and saw the tubs are overlooking into the fjord making a late evening dip a memorable event at a decent price too (1000,- kr isk for each person)
We are looking forward to our next trip to Iceland and will be looking to revisit this pearl...

Great service and food! Fish and chips are the best we've had so far in Iceland. They catch it at the port, have it processed next door and make their own batter. It's chef's kiss DO NOT sleep on this!
Also had their pizza which had excellent cheese, a crispy thin delicious crust- just the way a pizza should be.
They have a pastry chef who has studied around the world. She picked some local blueberries and made a cake the day before -which we were SO lucky to try! Seems like they have a rotating mix of desserts- which I would be happy to try out every time.
Total bill: Fish and chips Margarita pizza (half with added mushrooms) Side of seasonal vegetables Blueberry cake Cup of coffee
$100USD
The cheapest (also most delicious) meal we've had in Iceland...
