Ban Kunn — Restaurant in Hafnarfjordur

Don’t support this scam business! I ordered an extra PLAIN white rice and they charged me 1.400 isk ($12, €10)!!

It was definitely not ‘large’ portion, it was really little, dried out, old plain rice and I definitely didn’t expect it will cost 1.400 isk and felt scammed when I saw the receipt.

The problem with this business is not just that, there are aggressive signs on the walls, e.g. they almost threaten you to sanitize your hands because of covid (in 2025), and some more, you will feel ominous if you read their signs. And the owner is a grumpy old Icelandic man and he is not friendly. (the Thai people are friendly)

I think this restaurant think they can rob customers because there aren’t many restaurants around

So if you want ok food you could eat here but I personally advise against...

Having the privilege of eating good Thai food in Sydney and visiting Thailand twice itself, I can safely say that this isn’t a place to go to if you want authentic Thai Food. The food itself actually didn’t taste too bad and I couldn’t expect too much especially for Iceland. I was most excited to try the Pad Kra Pao, and although it did not come out as I had hoped for (it was very soupy??), what I was most disappointed in however was that they got the order wrong. Dear Sir, We, Dutch visitors, arrived last may 22 late in the evening at the airport in Iceland. After getting up our Avis car, we passed Hafnarfirdi on the way to Reykjavik. Past 9 hour in the evening we arrived at your Ban Kúnn restaurant. After closing hour.! But you let us in, and served us the most wonderfull Thais food in Iceland. That is what we appreciate and gives us a good feeling to came back one day, but then during opening hours. Thanks...
