This restaurant's pricing scheme is unreasonable. If you want to get food here, there are three prices: The first and lowest is just for the soup/bread bar; the second (and second most expensive) gets you soup/bread and access to the cold bar; the third and most expensive gets you access to soup/bread, the cold bar AND the hot bar. If you just want the hot bar, which includes things like lamb and chicken, rice, potatoes, hot veggies, etc., you have to pay the price that gets you access to everything on the bar, not just the hot bar—there is no single "hot bar price". I believe this to be unreasonable and a bit predatory (made possible because it's the only option in this area). And also, if you're going to charge for the use of your bathrooms, you would at least expect to not find the hand soap...

They had a cold foods, warm foods, and or soup and bread buffet option. I got all three options which was around 5000ish ISK. The cold options had cold soy sauce sesame like noodles that was really good (went back for it three times), plain pasta, salad items, and mushrooms quinoa. The hot items were Lamb stew, cream/marsala like chicken, cod tomato rice, dill roasted broccoli, seasoned roasted root vegetables, and potatoes. And, lastly there was broccoli cream soup with bread. All the items were deliciously seasoned and spiced, not too much or too little salt. It was a great warm meal after visiting the waterfall in winter. Food in Iceland is expensive anyways, so this was a good meal for good...

I don't write restaurant reviews, but felt this place deserved an exception.

We arrived with my 5-year-old after a long trip in horrible weather. We were wet, cold, and tired. The restaurant greeted us with a pleasantly warm and brightly lit interior, super clean despite people coming in and out all the time.

We ordered hot vegetable soup for a fair price of 2000 k which is less than what we paid for dinner anywhere else in Iceland - except here we could get as many refills as we wanted for no additional charge + fresh baked rolls and butter. Delicious. Needless to say, we stuffed ourselves full :) There was a pitcher full of crystal clear water and glasses on every table...

Nice cozy cafe by the waterfalls - visited late in the afternoon on a cold January day - the coffee and warm apple pie were most welcome. The cafe also has souvenirs and a small selection of clothes and postcards. Very friendly helpful staff too. The waterfalls are only a short walk away - don’t miss them as they are stunning. *edit* we went back the following day for lunch as the snow had really set in and we didn’t want to go too far from our accommodation. This time we had the buffet lunch - which was excellent: spicy sweet potato soup and lamb stew. Worth the trek through the snow in our wee hire car (with its snow tires and 4x4 option).

We were very happy to find this unexpected gem at the parking lot for Hraunforssar waterfall. They had their buffet open until 4, and this was the freshest salad and vegetables we have had our entire trip. The bread was hot and fresh. The cream of broccoli and cauliflower soup was just put out, and it was tremendous. The potatoes, noodles, rice and fish, chicken, and lamb were also crazy tasty. Cold beer, good sweets and souvenirs too! Do yourself a favor and stop here before or after viewing the falls. There is plenty of indoor or outdoor seating and very friendly team running it. Highly recommended.

Cafe empty. Ask for a coffee, directed to a coffee machine. Having discovered Iceland has the coffee machines dispensing the poorest coffee, I asked for a filter coffee. It couldn't be made. So we left. Now elsewhere having a filter coffee, where nothing is too much trouble. So it's a take it or leave attitude here. Photos to show I visited the foss. I did talk to the staff, it was too much effort to make filter coffee. I found another cafe, where nothing was too much trouble.
