I chose the hotel Skalholt because of the presence of this restaurant. Just one day before the booking I was sent a full menu. I checked the prices which I found within my budget and decided to go. After sitting down, the first surprise: there was no a la carte menu but just 1 starter, 1 main and 1 desert. Also, the way it was described was a bit strange, in the sense that we thought we had to buy at least a main and something else (but this MIGHT be our misunderstanding).

We were not notified of the prices in advance, which made us think the prices were not exceeding the prices of the most expensive meal in the menu that we were sent.

When paying, the big surprise: the prices were AT LEAST 1000isk higher per meal, which ended us up in paying about 160 EUR for the whole dinner...

We notified to the waitress that simply said: ah sorry that was the old menu with the older prices.

Then why was it sent to us??????

I paid less for better hatted restaurants in Sydney which is a notoriously expensive city!

I was on honeymoon so I just swallowed and pay, but I would definitely avoid this restaurant for this non...

Nested inside a hotel, the restaurant is a hidden gem. It’s only open until 4pm (unlike the hours stated on google map), but we made it in time at 3:40 and were able to get out orders in before the kitchen closed. Everything was incredibly tasty! The traditional Icelandic fish stew is a must try! And their hot spring baked rye bread was just so unique. You will probably not find it anywhere else! We even asked to bring home a loaf! Desserts were a little overwhelming though. Perhaps it’s because the main courses built our expectations too high! Anyway, 100% recommend this restaurant! The server was also incredibly sweet and kind! She patiently answered our questions and explained what goes into each dish. Most friendly Icelandic...

Hvonn restaurant is linked to Hotel Skalholt which is situated on the Golden Circle. The restaurant and Hotel are family run and the service is personal and wonderful. The meals are both creative and delicious. They offer meat, fish and vegetarian options of fresh ingredience from the nearby area. The restaurant is set in a sort of a retro building with a glass roof on one part. There is a wine plant and pink flowers blooming above your head which creates a cozy environment.

A few steps from the restaurant is a cathedral that is worth visiting.

This is a nice stop if you want a calm and friendly meal on your trip around the...

It is great there Though the restaurant industry is the perfect place for those passionate about food and hospitality, it can take its toll on your well-being. I probably sound like an old guy here, but had someone shared with me the eight ideas listed below a dozen years ago or more, I could have saved a lot of time, money, brain cells, hard feelings, and plenty of other negative things that kept me from achieving my true potential — especially in the early years. Take it from someone who knows: Here are eight ways to stop  the restaurant industry from destroying your life.

What a lucky little find! The ambiance of this place was absolutely magical with all the cascading flowers and grape vines in the restaurant. I had the goose salad and my bf had the sandwich. I preferred his for overall taste, but the salad was still good! We were able to get a pretty decent charge in one of our power banks while we ate and the server was very friendly. After your meal, you can go for a little walk up to the church to take in the rolling mountain views and find a bit of peace before continuing on your journey.
