What a surprising find in the middle of the golden circle in a tiny town like Fludir.
When walking in we saw it was a family run business. Mom and dad in the kitchen, oldest daughter in the front and little sister in the kitchen. Because it was summer break, otherwise I bet the little sister was doing g her homework in the restaurant…than you know it’s a proper family run Chinese restaurant.
The dishes are not the run of mill Cantonese fare. Unlike most places in Iceland that’s rather mixed, this place is really Chinese. Most precisely north east cuisine.
We ordered dumplings, sweet pork, black pepper beef, fried noodles and for take home vegetables and cumin lamb.
Looks can be deceiving. When Everything came on the table…I was not impressed and feared for the worse. But all was truly home made and quite tasty and fresh.
The best dishes was sweet pork. It’s. Taste was quite complex and mixed in sweetness and umami. Awesome. I loved the ugly yellow looking fried noodles. Looked quite awful, but surprisingly tasty. The beef was solid, even though I miss the pepperiness if a good black pepper beef. The cumin lamb was a bit disappointing to me.
All in all, it was my best Asian mean in I eland and if you crave genuine Chinese food in the golden circle, this place is...

The service was quite cold and transactional too: lacking warm greetings, thank yous after paying the bill, checking in if food was ok or if we would like another drink when finished, etc. Probably the worst $100+ meal I've ever had - yes food & restaurants in Iceland are expensive, but I felt I would have been better off getting a sandwich from the corner store... Hard to recommend, especially if vegetarian. Sounds like my partner's meat based dish was...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We asked very clearly if the duck for two would be enough and were promised a big portion for two. What we got, within 3 minutes, was a plate of dry, chewy duck that tasted old, served with a few sad scraps of cucumber and onion that looked stale and unappetizing. The whole thing was barely enough for one person and honestly looked and tasted like it had been thrown together without any care. Paying 7,000 ISK (around €50) for this felt like a complete rip-off. We left not just disappointed, but angry — this was insulting both in quality and value....
