Kaffi Kvika was the café of Mývatn Nature Baths during our visit. There was a decent selection of baked goods and soup, including vegan ones. In addition to hot food, they’ve got cold food too, even a freezer with ice cream for sale. During our visit, we had the vegan, velvety tomato soup which was very smooth and savoury. It’s a good place if you want a bit of a break from the midges of the area! We thought there was plenty of seating which were all clean too. Overall, Kaffi Kvika is a decent café, in my view.

The smoked trout on bread was pretty good. I actually think the crumbly, slightly sweet bread Icelandic people enjoy is the perfect vessel to enjoy the smoky, savoury notes and the velvety texture of the fish. Everything else was nothing special other than the fact it was overpriced.

Not sure why this cafe only had 3.5 stars on google. This was a great stop for lunch after walking Hverfjall in the morning. Had the tasty and hearty beef goulash soup, but lots of other hot and cold food options available at a reasonable (for Iceland) price. Staff were very friendly and helpful....
