This review is a strange one because we didn't eat here. My friend and myself came into this small village to do the hot springs bread baking experience. Normal meeting place was at the Fontana Spa across the way from Lindin. It was closed for refurbishment and not clear where we should go to meet our hosts. We had read that the bread bakers use the produce in the restaurant we thought we should go there. It's a really small village without any signage so not any other obvious option. My friend went in ahead to use the toilet before we began, and I looked for the tickets on my phone. I walked in 2 minutes later and met a man who gave me a huge telling off - saying we shouldn't have such rudeness and our behaviour was 'unacceptable'. I explained the situation and apologised but he went on and on. He was so Basil Fawlty I actually thought he was joking. It was so clearly a misunderstanding but he made me feel like a naughty child. He even followed me to the toilet when I went to tell my friend we were in the wrong place. (They were nothing special either). Suggest Mr Lindin you might put up a note on the door, or have a word with your neighbour to change the arrival instructions. And at the very least have a little grace and compassion....
Read moreStayed in the area and was referred to this place by a pamphlet. Decor and location were great. Early dinner to avoid a crowd. Waiter had quite a character.
Lobster bisque was great. Starting bread/muffin bland. Had the seasonal game course (horse, whale, reindeer, goose) and reindeer burger between myself and SO.
There was so much pepper on all everything else that all other flavors were completely dwarved. What appeared to be beet sauce was also overwhelmed with anise.
Dessert (the chocolate mousse and the chocolate lime cake) was so-so for 17ish a dish. Would also consider something at the Samkaup supermarket across the street instead.
I've had some excellent Icelandic fare over the past week, but the food here at Lindin doesn't quite warrant the hefty price tag.
Would recommend the lighter, but less disappointing, buffet at the Geothermal Bath Fontana a few buildings over.
Pro: Decor, service, location, dishes show effort. Con: Foods swim in pepper bath. For food...

There’s a vegetarian option that is to die for!! It’s made of a mixed beans patty, succulent sauces and a pastry with sweet potatoes. On one side there’s the yellow pasta with fresh vegetables and the other there’s orzo with fresh spices. The salad was so simple and yet succulent!
My boyfriend had the deer burger and he absolutely loved it, just like all the other comments.
We shared the chocolate mousse (I was very very full after the veggie plate - when I was expecting small fancy portions it was in fact very filling!!) It’s made of a warm white chocolate, super light and savory, with a strawberry and watermelon chunks in the middle with the chocolate mousse at the very bottom.
Everything about this place was just incredible - the food obviously, the view, the music and the owner.
I was scared of being underdressed after our day of hiking but the owner itself was dressed really relaxed and they make you feel very very...
