Fönix Chinese Restaurant: A Rollercoaster of Deliciousness (Mostly)
I’ve eaten at Fönix more times than I can count, and trust me, if you know what to order, you’re in for a treat. The lunch buffet? Solid. From the sambal chicken to the black pepper lamb, it’s a satisfying spread that keeps me coming back.
But... not everything at Fönix soars. Let me introduce you to the Satay Lamb – a dish that left me wondering if I was accidentally served a marinated flip-flop. The aftertaste lingered like an awkward silence, making me question every life choice that led me to that first bite. And the Sweet and Sour Pork? It should be renamed the Soggy and Sour Pork. Imagine someone whispered the words "sour" near the pork but drowned it in sadness instead. It was bland, mushy, and somehow managed to be both too much and not enough at the same time. A true culinary enigma.
That said, Fönix still holds a special place in my heart (and stomach). Stick to the classics, dive into the buffet, and you won’t be disappointed. Just maybe steer clear of the Satay Lamb unless you’re feeling particularly adventurous... or mildly masochistic.

I have come half an hour after closing, not realising that the place had closed, and still be allowed to order takeout. Recently the whole family took a trip together and closed the restaurant meanwhile, I don't know about you but I find that endearing and adorable. The place had great food and offers nice choices for multiple people to eat together without having to order one thing for each person. Read moreMy all time favorite Chinese Restaurant, the food is delishious and the staff is lovely. I also love the fact that I often see the owners/cheffs shopping fresh ingredients when I am at the local super market and I know they are using good fresh ingredients in their cooking.
This is THE place to get the best Kung Pao EVER MADE 😁 I really love their Kung Pao dish 💕 The restaurant itself is not fancy at all (still pretty cute in its own way) but I would serve the food to Royalty without hesitation 😉
