We made a slight detour into Reyðarfjörður while driving along the Ring Road in the south of Iceland after picking up a tip about Sesam Braudhús. This is a great little bakery and cafe on Hafnargata Street. They have indoor seating, you can do take-away as well. Opening times are 7.30am to 4.30pm (weekdays), 9am to 3pm (Sat), closed on Sundays.

During our visit we enjoyed a very good chorizo and cheese panini and croissant style cinnamon bun. Both were delicious. We ended up buying a couple extra of the cinnamon buns to enjoy the next day. Coffees served were good as well. This was our favourite bakery found during our two week trip around Iceland. Would have gladly purchased more from Sesam Braudhús had we known beforehand how good their food...

Drop by this bakery if you are heading east and need a quick snack to continue your journey on the ring road.

Best Cinnamon roll I have had ever! (460Kr) Truth is, it is more like a rolled up cinnamon cookies but super aromatic. My husband loved the chocolate cookie (610Kr) as well. Wish I had more pictures to show but the treats were so good we just ate them straight.

Decided to leave a review because I really loved the cinnamon roll and refused to share it with...

This was by far my favourite bakery in Iceland. If travelling through the Eastfjords, you must make a stop here. We bought a variety of bread, sandwiches, and sweets, and it was all outstanding. The highlight for me was the rùgbraud (find it in the freezer near the entrance) - it is simply on a completely different level compared to all the others I tasted. Thank you! Can't wait...

The shrimp salad croissant was incredible and so were all of the other pastries and sandwiches my family and I ordered. The coffee was also very good. The weather was lovely so we got to sit outside which was really enjoyable.

Real artisanal bakery (probably the only one in 80 Kms range) featuring a large selection of bread and specialties including traditional Icelandic pastry and cinnamon rolls. Seating and takeway is available.
