We came here for lunch the day we arrived in Aamby Valley. They were serving buffet and the food looked really tempting. We started with soup.
We took one sip and things immediately went downhill.
We found a cockroach in our soup.
Showed it to the waiting staff, asked to file a written complaint, were so disgusted by then that we left hurriedly.
We complaint to the staff at the reception where we checked in. Were assured that someone will contact us and nobody did till the evening. That too when we kept sending multiple reminders.
Our breakfast, which was included in the room tariff, was supposed to be at the same restaurant. Made it very clear we will not have it here. The manager, Deepak, called us a little late in the evening and offered us lunch/dinner which we refused. We only wanted our breakfast to be taken care of. He told us he will send it to our room from a different kitchen. He did serve it to our room but there is no way for us to know whether it was from a different kitchen so we restricted ourselves to boiled eggs and toast.
The sad part was even after we made such a hue and cry at the restaurant, they did not stop their operations for the day to deep clean. I kept seeing people going in for lunch and dinner and god only knows whether they were served the same...
Read moreThis is a caution for those who intend to visit with expectations of 5 or 7 star resort facilities. The property is poorly maintained of 3 star standard. Except natural green and fresh environment, landscaping etc. and surroundings, one feels disappointed even after paying exorbitant price for stay. Supreme Huts are old & poorly maintained which far away from restaurants and spots of interest. Very limited amenities provided. House keeping takes 15-20 minutes to respond. You cannot go walking anywhere in city and advised by staff to hire full day cab at Rs.2500-3000 from outside if you want to explore resort. Or else you should travel in your own vehicle. Lunch Buffer we had at Woodpacker restaurant was horrible, full of spice, difficult to consume by elders and children. Due to crowd, staff was not able to replenish dishes for more than half an hr. Many guests were found shouting at staff, chef and manager with similar complaints. Staff, though cooperative, but they express sorry and helpless in the absence of resources made available to them. We made a blunder of booking 6 rooms for 2 nights on a family trip just going by their reputation, ratings and recommends of front office staff. Not a value for...
Read moreMy two stars here are for the great buffet that was offered in the morning.
The main issue I had was regarding the pricing. I am accustomed to Five Star or 7 Star hotels and their pricing. The problem is here it was more than that and it didn’t make any sense. Its like you ought to think what is really going on. A Biriyani was almost 1000 rupees. Well you may assume since you are paying 1000 something might be special. NO. The quantity is good for one and the taste is normal. Its NOT amazing.
See my principle is I don’t mind paying a lot if its worth it. I mean if it’s the best biriyani in the world, I can pay 2000 or more as well. But charging for food so much doesn’t make sense when you have nothing special to offer. Its not just Biriyani Everything is astronomically priced From Sandwiches, Pastas to everything. Buffet is like 1500+taxes per person. And since you have no choice in Amby Valley you are stuck...
