A tour to Assam is incomplete without a visit to this lovely Dhaba hosted by these lovely brothers and sisters of mine. Yes their speciality is the original Assamese thali. It’s a vegetarian thali with rice, two types of daal, whole lot of vegetables radishes (mooli), bottle gourd (lauki), Bitter Guard (Lauki) and lot more. Also there is papad and sweet item – mishit dahi with small rasgullas. Regarding other facts, the restaurant is kept clean. The tables and seats are cleaned before new person sits. Wash rooms are also cleaned frequently. They have a pretty large spot for parking vehicles. So no worries about that. What makes this joint so special is that the Assamese thali is made here in the original Assamese way and we all loved it. Apart from thali, they also serve very delicious Assamese style non vegetarian items. You will love it here. This dhaba is on the road leading to Kaziranga and is very easy to spot. Almost all tourist vehicle pilots will know about this hotel so you just have to ask them to take you here. So do come here and enjoy the food and hospitability.

Visited for lunch and had ordered Assamese Veg thali and omlette.. Presenting the thali, it looks that we the Assamese people have only varieties of dry sabjis in our meals. Representing this as an Assamese Veg thali that contains just a spoonful of 5 different dry fried sabjis of beans, pointed gourd, okra, potatoes and raw bananas (3 pieces as shown), it would be injustice to Non-Assamese people who visit the place to have authentic Assamese food. Even the 2 bowls of dal were half filled. Nevertheless, they asked for refill of everything lateron, but it would have been better to serve it full at first itself (no refilling might be there lateron). They served a papad and a tangy chutney in a very small amount as shown. I feel an authentic Assamese veg thali must contain atleast a pitika, khaar, dry fried sabjis, veg torkari, bor, etc. Only then it represents true assamese roots. Overall, i feel the place is over-hyped if this kind of veg thali is served. Don't know much about their Non-veg items, so won't comment on it. (I hope this criticism is taken in a positive way and changes are made to uplift the standards more).

I stopped at Anuraag Dhabe for breakfast on my way to Kaziranga. This dhaba is not actually a dhaba its a hall sort of place. Ample car parking facility and nearly can accommodate more than 40persons at a time. They serve Assami style thali. Menu cards were all over the restaurant on the walls. There is a good variety of vegetarian and non- vegetarian food . my family wanted to have veg so we ordered puri bhaji, aalu parath and I ordered omelette with roti . To our surprise the puribaji & paratha came as a thali plate where they had bhendi, bitter guard , dal, chutney , aalu sabji. When asked they said this is the way we serve breakfast in the form of lunch plate. The taste was indeed good. For them omelette with roti meant that a full plate of roti thali and as a sider they gave me omelette🤭. Food was no doubt tasty. Washroom needs to improve as its common ( looks like a wedding hall washroom) Overall a good experience with food and service.

This modest-sized but very popular restaurant along the road from Guwahati to Kaziranga serves mainly thalis, though they do have some stand-alone dishes too. The restaurant spreads across several interconnected rooms, all with basic tables and chairs. We - my husband, daughter and I - were seated in a private cubicle of our own. Not very clean (the floor was littered, the upholstery and curtains stained and dusty), but the staff were very efficient. We ordered two Assamese thalis; the basic thali is vegetarian, but you can order a non-vegetarian main dish to add to this. We chose duck for our mains. All the food was delicious, and very reasonable too: including extras (dessert, second helpings, and a child's thali), we paid only Rs 900. The restaurant has washrooms too; the ladies’ is only Indian style. Not very clean, but usable anyway.

We started on a long journey from shillong to Kaziranga national park. Anuraag dhaba was recommended by our driver and it was just 95 km prior to our destination( Dhanshree Resort). I guess it is already a very popular stop in the locality and every other bypasser was stopping by for lunch here. The food was really awesome. Pretty girls in assamese saree served us assamese thali which happened to be the best meal in our trip. The thali consisted of a range of varieties starting from rice, 2 types of dal, different vegetables fried, etc. Please have a look at the pic that I am uploading. Do opt for veg thali and order fish along with it. I am uploading the pic of the thali. Go for it.

This was the first place we had our food after landing. Seeing the young girls working here (wearing their traditional dress) made us feel we are in Assamese. We had ordered a non-veg lunch thali, made in their style. Sorry, do not remember the names of the items. Service was fast, knowing that people would be hungry and would not like to wait for the food. We had duck meat that was too spicy, literally had running eyes and noses while having it (attaching the picture). Food was served in their traditional plates and bowls. Quite spacious but hygiene wise I would give them 1 Star. Located on the highway, crowded all the time they should do something about their toilets.
