Bor Luit — Restaurant in Assam

We went back from Holi at Doul-Govindo Mandir. It is a very famous restaurant and we thought no words could do it justice. We went there but the atmosphere wasn't very satisfying. Then we ordered the food and it was a bit objectionable. The food wasn't as great as we had heard. The food was very spicy, spicy is not an ethnic Assamese way of cooking. The chicken was very normal and nothing exceptional about that so called 'ethnic' food which it meant to provide. The restaurant itself was infested with mosquitoes and houseflies and it was quite disgusting, in a way. The service itself was very insulting and quite frankly, we felt like they were repelling us. What's the use of going to a restaurant if you can't get some quality food? It was somewhat like our home food ; in fact it was worse than that. We paid about 2000 bucks but felt like ₹100 food from a street stall situated above a garbage pile. It is actually an insult to the 'ethnicity' of Assam as the whole experience was very thought provoking about overrated 'ethnic' Assamese restaurants which seem to insult our ethnicity. It obviously made efforts to merge the real ethnicity of our Assamese culture with modernity ; resulting in the creation of its so-called 'ethnicity'; but, needless to say, it failed miserably 🤷‍♂️. If you're with your family and want to find a good Assamese restaurant, find some other one because this will leave a very inferior impression of our Assamese culture. If you're a non-Assamese, this is literally one of the worst restaurants to experience our real 'ethnicity'. My whole family knows and has experienced Assamese culture and traditions in its heyday, my mother being an Assamese award-winning literary author and my grandparents being activitists during the Assam Agitation, has termed it as an utter disappointment to Assamese food in it's effort to create a so-called 'ethnicity', but...

I and my friend visited this place on 5th May 24. we heard many good restaurant, but it turned out completely different. Firstly they were very hesitant to find tables for two persons as most tables were full as it was rush hour. They didn't even asked to wait. But we just waited outside as it was raining. After some time they gave us a table. We ordered mutton masala chicken pokora and veg thalis. But there table didn't have enough space to accommodate their dishes. We had to pour the sabjis in our plate and stack the bowls to manage space. They even accepted that there isn't enough space to dine still they didn't do anything about it. It was very uncomfortable.

Let's talk about the food. The provided sufficient quantity and the taste was good too according to the price, but the quality of meat was low. They provided two liver pieces in mutton masala which is not acceptable if I'm paying somewhat 450 rupees. So even the taste was good we couldn't enjoy the mutton masala To ruin our experience they had water shortage. We had to carry our water bottles to basin to wash hands. Such kind of mismanagement from a prestigious restaurant.
