A boating trip on Heritage Joysagar is a serene and enchanting experience that allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and rich history of Assam. Here’s what makes it truly special:
Tranquil Waters & Scenic Beauty Joysagar, one of the largest man-made lakes in India, was built by Ahom King Swargadeo Rudra Singha in memory of his mother. The calm, expansive waters reflect the vast sky, creating a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxation. As you glide across the lake, you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery and distant hills, making it a photographer’s delight.
Rich Historical Connection Boating here isn’t just about the scenery—it’s a journey through time. The lake is part of the historic Rang Ghar and Talatal Ghar region, remnants of the Ahom dynasty’s grandeur. The gentle waves seem to whisper tales of Assam’s royal past, adding a layer of cultural depth to your trip.
Birdwatcher’s Paradise If you love wildlife, Joysagar is home to numerous migratory and local birds. Spot kingfishers, egrets, and even rare species as they skim the water’s surface or rest along the banks. Early morning or sunset boat rides offer the best sightings.
Perfect for Relaxation & Reflection Unlike crowded tourist spots, boating on Joysagar is a quiet escape. The gentle lapping of water against the boat, the cool breeze, and the unhurried pace make it ideal for unwinding, meditating, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment with loved ones.
Local Flavors & Hospitality After your boat ride, you can explore nearby tea stalls and try Assamese snacks like pitha or sip on freshly brewed sah tea. The warmth of the local people adds to the charm, making your experience even more memorable.
A boating trip on Heritage Joysagar is more than just a ride—it’s a soothing blend of nature, history, and culture that leaves you refreshed and enriched. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, this experience is sure to be a highlight of your visit to Assam.

Read moreThe first time when i visited, it was a nice experience, but the second time was horrible.. See me and friends planned to visit sivasagar and i suggested HJ to them with reference to my last visit... We came nearly at 11:00,ordered at 11:30 and received the order at 12:50...that was a long waiting by the way,and also we had to sit outside because there were some #rich people having birthday party inside... Ok forget that, now when we looked to wash our hands ,we were not allowed to enter because there was the party going on inside.. So one of the employees directed us to the toilet wash room (a much awaited place for the so called #middle class family)...The most interesting thing here was that it hadn't had water in it(such a shame)...And with sanitizer we took the servings(carried sanitizers along with due to covid-19).. At last it was shameful for me among my friends;even if not for the HJ because they did their duty to satisfy the #rich under their luxurious roof;because i suggested my friends who came from different parts of assam to visit sivasagar....Want to share many things but i am a little bit afraid cause i have been writing reviews for a long time and haven't came across with such a disrespectful experience.. Extremely sorry HJ.. don't mind just a review;will get lost among your followers...
