Kholong Restaurant — Restaurant in Assam

Kholong Restaurant is a part of the Green Village resort. The resort is located in the vicinity of the world famous Kaziranga National Park towards its western periphery. Although we didn't stay in the resort as such but we did stop at the resort to have lunch at Kholong restaurant on our way to Numaligarh from Bhalukpong. And in the process had a sneak peek at the resort too. I must admit that the place is very well maintained and the location is picturesque and full of greenery. The Kholong restaurant is quite visible and can be recognized from a distance by the huge statue it houses resembling a gorilla in its front yard. The huge gorilla statue is quite an attraction for not only the young kids but for the grown ups as well. Now coming to the restaurant, at first glance one would find it to be too dark inside. But after a little while your eyes get adjusted to the ambient light inside and doesn't feel that dark at all. The theme inside the restaurant is that of a natural cave and I must say they succeeded in given it that feel. The staff is cordial and we'll mannered but a little undertrained, I should say. They took a little time to comprehend what the guests need or what the guests need to order. Moreover, the restaurant takes a hell lot of time to deliver the ordered items. The prices of items are on the higher side a bit too. The quality of food prepared in there restaurant is just average and cannot be termed great. The restrooms are nice and clean. No issue with that. Overall had a satisfactory time coming to this place to have our lunch. Hope to stay in the adjoining resort too sometime...

Had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we had to wait nearly 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. During the meal, it was extremely difficult to get the attention of the staff, and even when someone did respond, our requests were either delayed (got it after the meal got over)or completely ignored. The quality of the food was also below expectations. The curry had an unpleasant smell, and the fish did not seem fresh at all, which raised concerns about food safety and hygiene. Considering the lack of service and the poor quality of food, the pricing felt highly unreasonable. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet even the most basic standards of hospitality or value.

I would not recommend this place, as it felt like a waste of both...

Beautiful place, beautiful design, pathetic service. A case in point where the utterly ridiculous waiting time brings the whole experience frustrating. Diabetic patients should avoid at all cost or should carry their own food as even serving bottled water takes 15 minutes. The starters and the main course was served at the same time and that too after 50 minutes of waiting. This is my second visit and on a comparatively busy day but on a lean day also the service remains the same. That means, everything is on make to order and nothing is put on assemble to order with delayed differentiation on the later stage. Simple operation improvement and cycle time reduction can improve the performance by many margins. Hope someone...
