A Night of Vibes, Music, and Mixed Food at Backstreet Brewery – Bellandur, Bengaluru
Backstreet Brewery in Bellandur is a place that effortlessly pulls you in with its energy. Nestled in the heart of one of Bengaluru’s most vibrant tech corridors, this spot is rapidly becoming a go-to for those who want to unwind after a hectic workweek. I recently visited the place and here’s an honest account of my experience.
Ambience & Vibes
Let me start with what stood out the most — the vibe of the place is fantastic. The ambiance is trendy and upbeat, making it ideal for a Friday evening or weekend outing. The lighting is cool, the seating is spacious, and the crowd is a great mix of working professionals and young partygoers.
What truly makes Fridays special here is that they host Dance Nights, and I was lucky enough to be there on one. The DJ was phenomenal — hands down one of the best I’ve heard recently at a microbrewery in Bangalore. The music selection was on point, blending commercial hits with dance beats that kept everyone grooving. If you’re someone who enjoys dancing and loud music, Friday nights here are a must.
Food & Drinks
Now let’s talk about the food. I started off with Chicken Angara — a spicy starter that definitely delivered in terms of flavor and heat. It was perfectly grilled, tender, and packed with that smoky, tangy essence you expect from an “Angara” dish. Full marks for that one.
Next, I tried the Street Style Chicken Noodles, which sadly didn’t meet the same standard. It was overloaded with soya sauce, making the dish overly salty and masking any real flavor or texture from the vegetables or chicken. It wasn’t inedible, but it was more of an “okay-ish” dish — not something I’d order again. I also found it disappointing that nothing on the menu had Schezwan sauce, especially since that’s a crowd favorite in Indo-Chinese cuisine.
One big challenge I faced was with accessing the menu. For some reason, my mobile network wasn’t working inside the premises, and the restaurant relies solely on QR code-based digital menus. Since there was no physical copy of the menu available, I had no idea what else was on offer. That was a major letdown. In an age where digital-first is the norm, I’d still recommend that establishments like these keep a few printed menus handy, especially considering that mobile networks can be unreliable.
I had planned to try their house beer, which is what breweries are known for, but due to the menu issue and my indecision without proper information, I decided to skip it this time. Hopefully, on my next visit, I’ll get to try the beer selection, which I’ve heard good things about from other reviews online.
Pricing
In terms of pricing, Backstreet Brewery is definitely on the costlier side. While the ambiance and experience justify it to an extent — especially with the excellent music and dance floor vibe — it might not be the best choice if you're looking for something budget-friendly.
Overall Experience
To sum up, Backstreet Brewery has a lot going for it — great ambiance, solid music, and a lively crowd. It’s a perfect weekend hangout if you’re looking to dance and soak in good energy. However, a few things could be improved, like having a physical menu for customers without mobile network access, and maybe some tweaks to the food quality and variety (especially with Indo-Chinese offerings).
Would I visit again? Yes — for the vibe, music, and maybe to finally sample their beers. But next time, I’ll make sure my phone has proper signal, or I’ll ask...
Read moreA very awful experience, do not be led astray by any commitments they give while making reservations. They will change their word after you arrive and when they present the bill. And service is very very very slow. Expect to wait 20-30mins for someone to take your order, and even longer for your food to arrive. And beware, they charge 10% Service Charge even though it's been prohibited by the government. We went here for a corporate team dinner after making prior reservations for a group of 30 with Mr Roshan. At time of booking, he had promised us a dedicated set of tables accomodating 30 ppl for our large group, and a discount of 20% for food+alcohol since we were a large group. When we arrived, parking was a hassle even with Valet parking. They were parking customers vehicles on the road side, even after we asked them not to. It was a disorganized mess. When we arrived inside, we saw that they had given away half the tables reserved for us to another group of people, leaving us with just 3 tables for a group of 30. Next they kept insisting that the 3 tables should be enough to accommodate our group even when it could obviously not. We had to grab the manager and try to convince him to get us more tables. That took 20 minutes for them to get done. Next, the mosquitos.... Everyone was complaining about the sheer number of mosquitos at the place. Could hardly spend a minute or two, without getting bitten... Everyone was complaining about the sheer number of mosquito bites they endured by end of the night. One shudders to think what will happen during Dengue season. Next, the service experience was pathetic. We were left waiting for 20-30mins, for service staff to come take our order. We had to go and get a service staff to come take our order. It took more than 30-40mins for our drinks orders and even simple starters like French fries to arrive. When the food did come, the staff were disorganized and clueless about which table had ordered the food. They would take our order to another table, until we had to call them. We asked for water, and they didn't show up with that either. We had to go collect water bottles from the bar and bring it to our table. On top of that, they missed to bring quite a few items we had ordered. Complete mess!
At the time of billing, they presented the bill with 10% Service charge. When we asked them to remove it, the manager and Mr.Roshan refused even thought they admitted it was prohibited by the government. They then said they would not offer the promised discount of 20% if we didn't pay the 10% Service charge. After we agreed to pay service charge, they refused to apply 20% discount for the alcohol bill, going back on the commitment made at booking time. Finally, we had to argue with them again to make them honor their commitment. Extremely bad experience. There are much better breweries with better beer, food and proper service...

Spread across a HUGE place, this establishment has ample space for parking and seating. At the entrance, you would be welcomed warmly by Ms. Alemo & Ms. Zulie, who would help you & your entourage get a place to sit & enjoy.
You are then taken care of by stewards & Sr. Stewards like Mr. Nima, Mr. Sagar and also folks like Mr. Ramesh.
However, I personally have some of the most prompt and efficient services offered by Yusuf (Steward) & Mr. Chandan (Sr. Steward)....so a BIG THANK YOU to both :-)
The bar is in the able hands of the Bar Managers - Mr. Lijo & Mr. Abhishek. Both dish out one fantastic drink after another. My fav is their in-house concoction - "Dark Night".
Overall, beer-lovers have much better choice and get cheaper drinks, vis-a-vis spirit-lovers (its a brewery, at the end of the day !). Unfortunately, few very common cocktails are also missing out from their alcoholic menu :-/ I also wish they would reduce their spirit-based drinks' prices a bit....
You also have Sr. Chef Deepak & his team make some mouth-watering delicacies to go along with your drinks and they have a good selection of dishes - both in veg & non-veg sections. The portion size as well taste are good.
The entire establishment is run under the able leadership of the ever-smiling and always-helpful restaurant-manager , Mr. Adarsh. And , of course, if you wish to organize corporate events or even w.r.t. other restaurant-related activities, you always have the dynamic Restaurant Sales Mgr. - Mr. Roshan.
The place is pet-friendly. They offer "sheesha" too. It hosts live music on Fridays & Saturdays. Crowd is a mix of groups, pairs and even singletons....across age-groups. One can come with kids too !
Overall, a good place to let one's hair down. Service can be tardy on occasions...for which I guess they should increase the number of staff , both - at the bar and outside the bar too.
Lots of places within the premises , where one can click photos to post on your IG, FB , etc. a/c's. They accept all modes of payment, including the Swiggy Dineout discount ( @ least till the writing of this review ). They have a big screen to showcase your favorite matches too :-)
So Bengaluru...what r u waiting for ? Just come n hv a blast here...
