Visited this restaurant yesterday after looking at their reviews and hearing small talk about an upcoming south Indian cafe styled restaurant in uttarahalli..... First off I am really proud and glad that finally a good looking themed cafe has opened in the vicinity of kumaraswamy layout uttarahalli combined .....so great job with that guys !
Coming to the restaurant .... I wish it was located in main road so that people could get to know easily that there is a new restaurant sadly its in a cross but still visible.. The place indeed looks amazing....they have done a really good job of converting a house to a restaurant ...really good ambience giving that authentic south Indian wood theme with some famous paintings also the seating style etc...( tall people will suffer for seating as they low benches :P )
Coming to the food ....I ordered a open masala ghee roast dosa ....churmuri and buns which amounted to 110 bucks which was a little surprising ...considering in normal darshini u get dosa for 45 bucks ,buns for 15 bucks and churmuri for about 25 for approx average for 85 bucks total ..... The food delivery is quite fast so within minutes of ordering I was digging into the
1.churmuri(30 bucks)- the first thing i noticed was it tasted fresh ....the tomatoes...the onions....the dish was freshly made and you can taste it...so was really glad about that . I just felt it could have used a little more spice . The quantity was less for the price 2.Mangalore buns(55 bucks) - to be honest I have definitely tasted better buns( I have tasted the buns in Mangalore) ....they weren't that sweet.....so all I could taste was the dough . Definitely not worth 55 bucks for 2 buns which is quite frankly outrageous . 3.open masala ghee roast (50 bucks)- this dish is very similar to the adigas special open masala dosa ( banashankari branch).....but comes no where near the amazing taste of the adigas dosa . The dosa could have used a little more roasting ,a little more quantity of the aloo and a little more spice. ( I really suggest the owners to try the adigas dosa once with open mind to know what I am talking about ) Then we had a little chat with the owners and their story of opening the restaurant is really inspiring, two siblings highly educated achieving their dream to open a restaurant with quality on emphasis. They suggested me to try the masala dosa . 4.masala dosa ghee roast(50 bucks) - finally a good roasted authentic masala dosa.....the appearance of the dosa was amazing but the taste 'Almost' equally good......the dosa was definitely the best in the area but not the best I have had till now. Again the dosa could have used a little more aloo.....and the inside of the dosa could have used a little more roasting according to my taste. 5.coffee(15 bucks ) - the owner told me that he blends the coffee himself so definitely kudos for ur commitment ......but sadly the coffee is really not strong....the usual filter coffee we get hits you with caffeine and its like a high feeling.....despite having 2 glasses of the coffee all i could feel is the milk .....unfortunately I have no idea if something is wrong with the blend or in the ratio of adding the milk or in the process of making it. But I have had better for 10 bucks .
Overall really good restaurant with a great future if certain changes are made ...Definitely should visit if your in the area . Points cut for pricing and quantity- food is certainly expensive for startup restaurant ....either reduce the price or make your food worth it.....cause there are some legendary restaurants in Bangalore serving same dishes for a lesser price . Masala dosa in legendary restaurants Vidyarthi bhavan- 43 bucks CTR( malleshwaram)- 40 bucks SLV-32 bucks Adigas- 35 bucks Strive for quality but also think about common man and how to draw the crowd in the long run. I hope they take my constructive criticism well ....Will definitely...
Read moreThis is place is very very good! They started serving Italian food like pasta and thin crusted pizza only recently (about 3 months) and they have been serving south Indian food since two years. The ambience is amazing! I have tasted only the Italian food here and it is way better than any of the "big names" we almost always go to. The pricing is moderate, but with their quality, the pricing does not matter whatsoever! They also serve coffee and their potato cheese nugget is a must try. This place is a house converted to a restaurant and one half serves Italian and the other serves south Indian. So, overall these place looks like heaven and surely tastes as one! Only thing missing is music, but then I appreciate the silence, it lets you interact with your family members or with your companions. Loved beneka...
Read moreWas pleasently surprised! Not often you come across a hotel where in taste/hygine/quality/ambience exceed your expectation. Benaka for sure is one of the very few hotels in Bangalore which retains the charm & quality.
The fresh coffee flavor still lingers in my mouth. The quality of the coffee beans used is quite hard to come by .
The guys running the show have been meticulous about every single thing. Right from the paintings which adore the walls to the vintage clock at the counter.
Am sure more guys would appreciate the quality and attention to detail. Am also very proud that such hotels continue to exist in...
