North Indian Thali Review - 130 INR (7/10)

I recently tried the North Indian Thali priced at 130 INR, and here's my detailed review:

Components of the Thali:

Pulka (3 pieces): Soft and well-cooked, perfect for pairing with the curries.

Raita: Creamy and refreshing, a great accompaniment.

Gulab Jamun (9/10): An absolute delight! Soft, syrupy, and just the right level of sweetness.

Masala basmati rice

Chole (5/10): The Chole was average, nothing particularly special. This dish varies daily, so you might get a different curry.

Dal: A staple that was comforting and flavorful.

Salad: Fresh and crisp, a nice addition to balance the meal.

Papad: Crunchy and well-seasoned.

Tomato Soup (1/10): Unfortunately, this was the letdown of the thali. The soup was bland and lacked the necessary flavors, making it almost inedible.

Overall Impression: The thali provides a good variety of dishes, and the quality of most items is decent. However, the Tomato Soup needs significant improvement. For 130 INR, the thali feels slightly overpriced given the inconsistencies in taste and quality.

Suggestions for Improvement:

Enhance the flavor profile of the Tomato Soup to make it more enjoyable.

Ensure consistency in the daily-changing curry to maintain the overall appeal of the thali.

While the thali has its highlights, there's room for improvement to make it a better value for money. With a few tweaks in the taste and quality, this could be a go-to option for North Indian...

Great sarson ka saag and maakkay ka roti thali. Rich in flavour and more importantly the correct flavour and fragrance. We were told to give the restaurant a try when we went to Kogilu Cross and I would say it was worth the salt and malai. I would not say it is a closed door restaurant but if you are okay to go on a drive and on the way want to taste some sarson ka saag the Delhi style then this is it. I will for sure have this place on my "to visit" list of places again when I am driving towards that side. Caution it is a roadside open hotel with parking on the roads so plan your visit to avoid traffic hassles of parking in the event of the place getting full. Also limited seating capacity inside. They do have a nice chaat section too along with a fresh juice bar. Give it a try. Limited menu but good taste and I enjoyed the nice hot servings. Do not expect 5 star service as its not your Taj or Hilton but with some patience and understanding the...

This is medium, North Indian restaurant on the Kogilu Main Road. When we visited, there was no much crowd but later customers came in. We ordered 1 south indian meals, 1 pudi dosa, 1 paneer fried rice, and chocolate sundae as dessert. It is a self service restaurant managed by a small team. We extremely loved the service and the seating. It seems like a house being converted to a restaurant. The ambiance is good. It is a peaceful place to have food. Coming to the food and it’s quality, South Indian meals was satisfactory. The quantity was good. The pudi dosa had less of chutney powder in it, but taste wise and quantity was good. Paneer fried rice was spicy and great for spicy lovers. The paneer chunks were big and hence there were not many. Otherwise the quantity was extremely sufficient for one person to it. Towards the end, the chocolate sundae was heaven and the quantity was good. The pictures added below can be used as reference...

Visited Kanhaji, located at B-7, SLN Shopping Complex, 842/10, Kogilu Main Rd, Maruthi Nagar, Kogilu, Bengaluru. I tried their Butter Pav Bhaji, which cost 115 INR. The flavor was moderate—neither overly impressive nor disappointing. I also sampled the Butter Masala Dosa priced at 70 INR, but I was surprised to notice that they didn’t seem to use actual butter; it tasted more like a regular dosa cooked in oil. The overall taste was just average and didn’t meet my expectations. Even after inquiring about the lack of butter, the staff insisted that they had indeed used butter, which felt misleading. Additionally, I decided to try their tea, which cost 15 INR, but I would recommend skipping it. The tea was quite watery and lacked any real flavor. As for parking, it's possible to park bikes along the street, but I would advise against bringing a car since there is no parking available on the main road, making it inconvenient for those driving.
