I recently visited the newly opened Excellence Chaiwala, and despite its lavish and crisp menu, my experience was extremely disappointing. While the ambience is nice, the service was painfully slow. We sat for half an hour and only ordered two dishes: Kung Pao Chicken and something called 1999 Triangle Vegetables. After 20 minutes, the waiter returned with a long face, informing us that the vegetables had gone bad and if they tried to prepare it, the portion would be small. I ended up canceling the dish and asked for the Kung Pao Chicken to be served instead, but that took another 10 minutes. The worst part was the lack of communication. The waiter stood by the counter without updating us on the delay, just blank and silent.
To make things worse, I spotted a staff member passing by who looked like the manager, but he completely ignored me when I tried to speak with him. Eventually, I had to go to the kitchen area myself, where the chef apologized. But by then, the mood was ruined. My sister was starving, and to top it off, they served her the wrong drink—she ordered a blueberry milkshake but got a fizzy blueberry mojito instead.
Excellence Chaiwala seems to only focus on serving basic items like cold coffee and Hakka noodles, which are popular everywhere. But when it comes to other items listed on their extensive menu, they clearly aren’t prepared. The staff is untrained and slow, and the lack of professionalism is disappointing. While the chef seemed capable, the overall service just didn’t live up to the expectations set by their fancy menu. It’s a common problem in Bhopal: nice ambience but poor execution. A lot of potential here, but they need serious...
Read moreSo, this was my 2nd time and last time. On the first occasion, i found a piece of small hair in my idli, which they changed after i made them see it properly. And today the 2nd time, the lassi was sooo much sour that it just made the whole experience horrible. The staff including the man at the billing counter ignored me when i said that lassi was very sour in taste and not in a state to be consumed. They thought that they might have to refund the money of lassi which was merely 40 rupees(funny thing though). I ordered their paneer sabji which had 3 coloured gravy. The taste of this paneer dish was very good but only had 4 small pieces of paneer. This was my 2nd and last chance to go to this restaurant. Mistakes if not improved would take this emerging good restaurant to deep plunges. (Owner's reply in my review and other people's reviews can be seen. The arrogance and attitude of owner is purely visible in...
Read moreExcellence Chaiwala at Karond is honestly one of the best spots in Bhopal if you’re a tea lover. The aroma of freshly brewed chai itself pulls you in, and the taste never disappoints—perfect balance of strong, flavorful, and refreshing. They serve it piping hot in kulhads and cups, which makes the experience even better.
What I really like is the consistency. Whether it’s early morning or late evening, the chai has the same great taste every single time. The place is usually buzzing with people, which shows how popular it is, yet service is quick and friendly.
The prices are pocket-friendly too, so you can enjoy a good cup of tea without thinking twice. It’s the perfect stop for students, office-goers, or anyone passing through Karond.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants a proper chai...
