Priya Restaurant in Bhubaneswar is certainly not a newcomer to the dining scene. While this particular outlet near Sum Hospital may be relatively new, it has admirably upheld the restaurant's established legacy. During our recent 10-day trip, we consistently chose Priya Restaurant for most of our meals, particularly since we were accompanied by our parents and sought a place that offered a well-balanced combination of oil and spice in their dishes. We were pleased to find that the food was not only flavorful but also prepared with just the right amount of oil and spices.
The ambience of the restaurant was clean and inviting, contributing to a pleasant dining experience for us. Additionally, the staff members were courteous and attentive, further enhancing our overall impression of the establishment.
However, one aspect that left something to be desired was the dessert selection. As a lover of Odisha's sweet dishes, I had hoped for a more authentic representation of Odia flavors and tastes. This is an area that could benefit from improvement to truly capture the essence of Odisha's...

The restaurant was almost empty with just one more family dining there (around 5 PM) The filter coffee was still not ready even after I had finished with the dosas, although it should take the least amount of time. The dosas were crispy and tasted good. I was expecting a bit more tanginess in the chutneys. I asked them to cancel the coffee so that I could leave the place. But they kept asking me to wait, it was almost ready, just reaching etc. And after the pointless wait, which felt like a long time, the coffee finally arrived (pic attached) which was unfortunately a let down. After getting used to authentic filter coffees in South India, this tasted like regular coffee and didn't taste bitter. I somehow expected it to be good being that Priya is one of the most oldest South Indian chains in Bhubaneswar. Nevertheless, Priya still remains a budget friendly go-to place when it comes to quick South Indian tiffin. Hoping to go there next time with...
Read morePriya Restaurant is one of my go-to places for delicious, homely vegetarian food. I’ve ordered from them over 50 times via Zomato and Swiggy, and their food consistently delivers on taste.
I’ve tried a variety of items — curries, breads, rice, sweets, and breakfast dishes — and everything has been flavorful and satisfying. Their prices are fair, making it a great value for regular meals as well as special occasions.
They also cater to custom party orders. I had placed a no-onion, no-garlic veg order for my sister’s birthday, and they handled it perfectly.
One area they need to improve is quality control — once, I found two small stones in my curry. It was a one-off, but definitely something they should watch more carefully in their cooking process.
Overall, highly recommended for pure veg food lovers — just hoping for a bit more attention to...
