Anna Idli is a delightful spot for anyone looking to experience authentic South Indian cuisine. Having visited alone, I had the chance to fully immerse myself in the flavors and atmosphere. Here's my detailed review based on my visit:
Food and Taste The Mysore Masala Dosa I ordered was absolutely fantastic! The dosa had the perfect crispness, and the spicy Mysore masala filling added a depth of flavor that stood out. Complementing the dosa were a variety of chutneys: Coconut chutney, a classic staple, was smooth and fresh. Green chutney offered a herby zest. Orange chutney added a vibrant tang. Khajur sweet chutney, a unique addition, provided a perfect balance of sweetness to the savory flavors. The sambar was hearty, with a blend of spices that was both comforting and flavorful. Each element on the plate was thoughtfully prepared and left a lasting impression.
The Showstopper: Tea The unexpected highlight of my visit was the tea I ordered. It was a showstopper — brewed to perfection with a lovely, aromatic taste. It complemented the meal beautifully and left a lasting impression, elevating the entire dining experience.
Variety in Menu Although I only tried the dosa, I was impressed by the extensive menu. Anna Idli offers a wide range of South Indian dishes, including idlis, uttapams, dosas, and more. For those looking to explore beyond traditional fare, the menu also includes hot and cold beverages, mocktails, sandwiches, and other options. It’s perfect for groups with diverse tastes or for anyone who enjoys variety.
Ambience The ambience of Anna Idli is another highlight. The warm and inviting decor makes it a comfortable space to enjoy a meal. The interiors reflect a cozy vibe, making it a great spot for both solo dining and gatherings with family or friends.
Pricing While I found the prices a bit on the higher side compared to other South Indian restaurants, I believe the authentic taste and quality of ingredients make it worth the cost. For the experience and flavors they provide, it feels like a fair trade-off.
Exceptional Service by Ms. Tanisha: A special mention must be made of Ms. Tanisha, who took my order and served me. Her warm and attentive demeanor stood out, but what made her service exceptional was her expertise in explaining the menu. With so many dosa varieties to choose from, I was a bit overwhelmed, but she patiently described the specialties and ingredients, making it much easier for me to decide. Her helpful guidance ensured I could fully enjoy my meal without confusion.
Final Verdict Anna Idli is an excellent choice for anyone seeking genuine South Indian cuisine. From the incredible flavors to the welcoming atmosphere, it delivers on its promise of authenticity. Whether you're a dosa lover or exploring South Indian food for the first time, it’s a restaurant that deserves a visit. Despite being slightly expensive, the quality and authenticity more than justify the price. I’ll definitely be back to try more of...

Food Service Atmosphere
Food:
Bakwas taste. Sambhar didn't taste like sambhar. The dip vada were not even dipped. Sabudana khichadi was sweet! Sweet!
Never had sabudana khichadi that has added sugar in my life.
When I asked them to replace it, because I didn't want the sugar, the waiter denied.
Even the curd had sugar. They didn't even ask if we want sugar or not.
That was the worst thing.
Overall food is costly and tasteless.
Service:
Poor and very poor.
Believe me the person taking orders not even knew what appe is.
He was saying appe is upma.
No basic knowledge of south Indian food. No manners. No communication ethics. He was rude and misbehaving.
Many food options was not even available.
Atmosphere:
Sitting area was clean. Table cleaning service was quick. They serve water in every table.
This is what I liked.
Apart from this,
The place isn't a place I would like to go on repeat.
In fact I would never want to visit their again.

Read moreI had one of the worst food experiences here. The sambar was so salty that even after informing the staff (and clearly mentioning that I was with someone who has BP issues), there was no replacement and zero service. The food they served was uncooked, and when I requested a better meal, their response was nothing but rude – “Subha yeh chal raha hai, aap dekh lo , that simply means they were serving me cooked meal, which was not freshly cooked. It was cooked in the morning or probably last night. I have no idea. The service was extremely poor, the staff was unprofessional and rude, and to top it all, the food was served cold. For the kind of prices they charge, the food quality, oil used, and taste were absolutely unacceptable. Honestly, there are so many better South Indian cafés in Raipur, and going here would be a big mistake. From food to service to ambience, everything was disappointing. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you’re looking for authentic South Indian food in Raipur, please choose a better café – because this is by far the worst place for food...
