I recently dined at Coal Factory, and my experience left me with mixed feelings. This establishment has a lot of potential, but there were some notable shortcomings in the main course and dessert that need addressing.
Starters: 4/5 Let's start on a positive note. The starters at Coal factory were a delight. We ordered the chicken tikka and Chicken chilli , and both were exceptional. The Chicken tikka had a perfect balance of flavors, and the presentation was impressive. The crispy corn was equally satisfying, with a unique blend of ingredients that tantalized the taste buds. The starters set a high standard for the meal.
Main Course (Boufe): 2/5 Unfortunately, the high expectations set by the starters were not met by the main course. We Got the Chicken Biryani and were left disappointed. The dish lacked the promised flavors and was strangely bland. The dish was not hot and . The meat was overcooked, resulting in a tough texture that made it difficult to enjoy. It felt like a missed opportunity to showcase culinary expertise.
Dessert: 2/5 To conclude the meal on a sweet note, we tried the Rasgulla, but it was another letdown. The dessert was very smelly, to the point it seems like it was expired product , the next Shahi Tukda is also too much sweet and not a balanced flavors. It didn't live up to the quality we expected based on the starters.
Ambiance and Service: 4/5 On the positive side, the ambiance of Coal Factory was lovely. The restaurant's décor and atmosphere were inviting, and the staff was attentive and courteous throughout the meal. This made the dining experience pleasant despite the culinary disappointments.
Overall Experience: 3/5 In summary, Coal factory has great potential, especially when it comes to its starters and the overall dining experience. However, the main course and dessert fell short of expectations. I hope that the kitchen can work on improving the quality and consistency of their dishes to match the excellence of their starters. With a bit of refinement, this restaurant could become a standout dining destination.
I would recommend Coal factory for its appetizers and ambiance, but I would caution diners to manage their expectations when it comes to the main course and dessert.

Read moreNice place for family outing and dining. Authentic barbeque food available here. This is something quite similar to Barbeque Nation experience. Unlimited buffet in veg and non-veg available @ Rs. 714/- (Ala-carte also available). Chicken-tikka of 2-3 varieties, paneer-tikka, fish-tikka, Chicken seekh-kabab, grilled pineapple, mushroom were served generously. Staff is very good, cordial, helpful, polite and courteous. Apart from above items, crispy-corn, egg-chilly, chciken-lollipop were also served. Papri-chaat and gupchup were also very good. Food quality is also very good. This place is located on left of NH-6, when you are travelling from Raipur towards Durg, just besides Hotel Ashish International. Ambience and decor are excellent. Cocktail and mocktail options are also available. Over all it is an amazing experience. This setup and arrangement is one of it's kind in Durg-Bhilai. Options of mutton and prawn items are missing, must be added to enhance the variety. Car parking for about 8 to 10 cars available just in front of Ashish International. Dessert options available were shahi-tukda, gulab-jamun, shrikhand, Fruit-custard, pastry and jelly. Main course also has 8-10 veg and...
Read moreOne of the worst places I’ve ever had BBQ chicken. I’m absolutely sure it wasn’t fresh. Not only was the BBQ disappointing, but everything else served on the plate was bland, tasteless, and overloaded with ketchup. There were no proper spices at all.
When I tried the biryani, it was cold. I informed the manager, who took the plate, fried the biryani on a pan, and brought it back, saying, “Your biryani is ready.” It was extremely unprofessional. After that experience, I decided to skip the main course and asked for a laccha paratha. Instead, they brought tandoori roti and insisted it was laccha paratha. After a long argument, we decided to leave, but first, we thought we’d try some dessert.
To our horror, we saw a fly on the sweets! When I tried to inform the manager, he continuously denied everything and refused to take responsibility. At the end of this terrible experience, he had the audacity to bring the feedback card and the bill.
This place is absolutely disgusting! If you care about your health and hygiene, do not visit this restaurant. Share this review to...
