Biryani is perfect choice for a lazy Sunday with friend. After scouting online options we chose BBK as Behrouz (I would rate it 4*) etc had been tried earlier. So the order time stamp was of 1218 hrs. The website details (phone) promised a fussy affair...we were happy with our choice. How ever at 1325 hrs we were hungry (in anticipation too) and no sign of our order. I called up the restaurant...was informed that it takes 90 minutes ...and were told that we should have read the info on webpage. (You can't see that info when browsing on phone). Any ways ...food arrived on time (95 min) ! All that prposed drama by BBK about the stove, candles etc to reheat biryani in is delivery pot went for a toss. We slow warmed the biryani pot on slow flame and opened it. Gulaoti kebabs ordered along, smelled nice. A bite into kebabs made me appreciate the idea and the recipe...but the execution was flawed. Wonderfully minced & cooked kebabs, but the flavour was lacking for want of those few milder spices...same was the story with Biryani, good rice (slightly overcooked, beyond al dante) but fragnant spices & liquors missing...a crime in Lukhnavi Birynai preparation! I am not sure that it within their competency to rectify this, but hope they do it. The Chef when he started this venture would surely have been dishing out real stuff...
Read moreFluffy, flavoursome and fullsome Lucknowi chicken and mutton biryanis !!! Ordered from BBK for the first time. My guests loved it too. However, it was a bit too salty. The raita was creamy and delicious. The handis were nice and hot on delivery. But small earthen heating containers, with 3 tealight candles each, were provided to place under the base of handis for reheating 10 mins before eating. This proved to be a bit dicy because the wax in one of the containers melted and overflowed into the heating base container and caught fire. To douse the fire, I removed the handi from top of the heating base and quickly covered it with a SS lid to cut off oxygen supply. But since the heating base container is perforated from sides, the wax continued to burn and flame started leaping out from the holes. I quickly removed even the SS lid and tried to douse the fire by sprinkling a few drops of water. That proved to be counter-productive because the molten wax spluttered and increased the domain of the flame. It was a scary moment !!! Thankfully the table cover and the paper napkins did not catch fire. So folks do not use these heating base containers if tealight candles are filled with wax to the brim. It will melt and overflow and catch fire. Request to BBK also to look into this. Overall a...
Read moreBiryani by Kilo (BBK) is my favourite Biryani place. I frequently order from them. Being a Biryani lover, since the day I have tasted it, I have been always ordering from here.
Recently they have launched a new menu. From the new launches my recommendations include :
🔴 Malamaal Chicken Biryani : For those of you who prefer boneless meat then this is the Biryani for you. They have more quantity of chicken than its rice counterpart in this biryani. A half kg of Malamaal Chicken Biryani will solve all your meat cravings.
🔴Paneer 65:A good option in starters. It has a subtle taste which makes it even more enjoyable. It is served on a banana leaf which makes the presentation look even more inviting.
🔴Dastaan-e-gul: A dessert in a jar consisting of layers of dry fruits, gulkand, etc. It may be a little too sweet those who do not have a sweet palette. The quantity is enough for sharing too.
Overall, my final verdict is do try Biryani By Kilo if you are a Biryani lover. They have biryanis with subtle as well as spicier versions.
