Nazeer Foods: High Hopes for the Raan, But Execution Fell Short Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 Stars) Dishes Reviewed: Mutton Raan (\text{₹}2300), Chicken Lollipop, Butter Naan Meal Type: Dinner Date of Visit: [Insert Date of Your Visit - e.g., Saturday Evening, 21st Sep] Nazeer Foods has long been synonymous with rich, authentic Mughlai cuisine, and I recently visited with high expectations, particularly to try their famous Mutton Raan. While the other dishes, like the Chicken Lollipop and Butter Naan, were enjoyable, the flagship Raan, which is a premium and costly item, ultimately determined the mixed 3-star rating. The Star Dish: Mutton Raan (\text{₹}2300 - 3/5 Stars) The Mutton Raan is undoubtedly the most talked-about item, and at a premium price of \text{₹}2300 (as per my bill), it sets a very high bar. Visually, the dish was impressive: a massive, roasted leg of mutton, beautifully presented. This is where the praise for the Raan largely ends. The primary issue was the texture and tenderness. While the outer layer had a decent, aromatic crust, the mutton deep inside the cut was surprisingly dry and stringy in certain sections. A proper Raan, especially at this price point, should be falling off the bone with minimal effort, having been slow-cooked to perfection. This unfortunately felt rushed. The accompanying gravy was flavorful—rich with whole spices, a smoky undertone, and a satisfyingly thick consistency—but it couldn't fully compensate for the dryness of the meat itself. Considering the premium cost and the reputation, this crucial execution flaw was a significant disappointment, pulling the overall experience down to an average mark. The Starters & Bread: Chicken Lollipop & Butter Naan (4/5 Stars) To start, we ordered the Chicken Lollipop, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal. They were perfectly fried—crispy on the outside, and incredibly juicy and tender on the inside. The marination had a good balance of spice and tang, making them addictive finger food. The portion size was generous, and they vanished from the plate quickly. We paired the mains with Butter Naan. The naan was soft, fluffy, and had a perfect tandoori char without being too chewy or stretchy. It was generously brushed with butter, providing an excellent vehicle to mop up the rich Raan gravy. The quality of the bread was consistently high and definitely recommendable. Ambiance and Service (3/5 Stars) The ambiance at the [Specify your outlet, e.g., Okhla] outlet was [e.g., decent, clean, slightly dated]. It's a casual dining space that gets very busy, especially on weekends. The seating was comfortable, though the air conditioning could have been more efficient. Service was prompt enough to take the order, but getting the attention of the staff for follow-ups (like requesting extra chutney or water) was a bit of a struggle during the peak dinner rush. They were polite but seemed overworked, which is a common issue at popular joints. Final Verdict Nazeer Foods provides a classic, rich Mughlai meal experience. The Chicken Lollipop and Butter Naan were excellent, living up to the brand's reputation for quality North Indian staples. However, the experience was significantly weighted down by the lackluster, overly dry texture of the Mutton Raan. For an item commanding a price of \text{₹}2300, the quality needs to be impeccable and deserving of 5 stars. Given the mixed bag of a great appetizer/bread and a surprisingly disappointing main course, I'm settling on a 3-star rating. If you visit, stick to their reliable items like the Chicken Lollipop, Chicken Korma, or Biryanis, and perhaps exercise caution before splurging on the Mutton Raan. It has the potential to be magnificent, but on this visit, it simply wasn't. Will I return? Yes, but for the Chicken Lollipop and a different main course. The Raan, unfortunately, is off the repeat...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Nazeer Foods, located in Abu Fazal Enclave, Jamia Nagar – and I must say, it was a truly satisfying experience for any non-vegetarian food lover.
We ordered their Chicken Afghani and Chicken Biryani, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Chicken Afghani was creamy, smoky, and full of rich flavor. The chicken was grilled to perfection — tender on the inside with that perfect char on the outside, served with a generous portion of mint chutney and onions. It melted in the mouth and had just the right balance of spices and creaminess.
The Chicken Biryani was equally impressive. It was fragrant, well-layered, and came with perfectly cooked long-grain rice infused with aromatic spices. The chicken pieces were juicy and flavorful, and every bite carried the rich essence of traditional Mughlai-style biryani. It wasn’t overly spicy, which made it enjoyable and suitable for all palates.
The restaurant had a clean and comfortable setting, and the service was prompt. Staff members were polite and efficient, ensuring we were served fresh and hot food without any unnecessary wait. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality offered.
Overall, Nazeer Foods in Abu Fazal Enclave is a great place if you're looking to enjoy authentic Mughlai cuisine in a peaceful setting. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Jamia Nagar area, especially if you're a fan of rich and flavorful non-veg dishes.
Will definitely be back to try more from their menu. Highly...
Read morePathetic service...very disappointed.. All they know how to greet the customers with a very big- Salaam... I made an order of around 1800+ thinking the taste and service of the restaurant great, however after making an order the myth broked to toss. No taste at all in butter chicken (only butter flowing on the top) no ingredients.. Afghani chicken was next to hell (only burning smoke smell) Also we need to make an order at once, you don't have a choice to order while having food due to which I have had to order naans at once which got cold and were very hard to chew... Biryani- OMG...who the stupid made biryani ? They don't mix the biryani with spices and chicken bones instead put separately with little curry.. Talking about service - On such a big order they gave one serving of onion which was less than 50 gram. I called thrice a guy to provide some more... You have to pay Rs.20 extra for half litre water served by staff... I visited this place with my new relatives considering a fine taste but it was my worst experience ever in Delhi.. I have attached my bill..
I would never recommend anyone to visit the store.. No value for money, they are just selling the name-...
