A part of The Leela, Gandhinagar, Diya - The Indian restaurant is impeccable with it's food, service, ambiance and Live Ghazals. It is a wholesome experience. If you are wondering where to celebrate family's special occasions, Diya should be the place.
It was my mother's birthday and I wanted it to be truly special for her. Without a second thought I made reservations at Diya and off we went.
The entrance, the lobby and the decor will enchant you with its splendour. A few months before this, we had been to Amala in Dubai and mom was reminiscing about our meal there in Jumeirah.
After soaking in the ambiance for a bit we placed our order. The papads and the pickles were brought in first followed by Shakarkandi ki Chaat & Veg Kebab Tasting Platter.
Shakarkandi ki Chaat was a show-stopper. So much so that, we re-created the same dish at home with aplomb. Sweet potatoes baked in an earthen oven to perfection, topped it off with some chutney and sev was a flavour bomb. Veg Kebab Tasting Platter had assortment of Amritsari Paneer Tikka, Subz ki Galauti, Subz Anjeer ki Seekh and Dahi Ke Kebab. It did not match the magic of Shakarkandi ki Chaat but it did pack a punch.
For the main course we ordered Subz Vilayti with Tandoori Roti, Roomali Roti and Cheese w 3 Peppers Naan. Subz Vilayti was seasonal vegetables tossed in a mild gravy of onions and almond. I could eat this curry everyday. What stood tall amongst all was Cheese and 3 Peppers Naan. Cheese stuffed Naan topped with 3 coloured Peppers was not just a delight to the eyes, but also the taste buds.
The Dahi Bhalla served complimentary was good too. Since it was a birthday dinner, we were served a portion of their cake. Such gestures, live music, friendly service truly make restaurants like Diya stand apart. The price we are paying is not just for food but for the experience which is totally worth it.
Thank you, team Diya and The Leela for a...
Read moreIt was a 14th Feb, 2023 evening, we reserved a table in advance to celebrate my husband's birthday. The first surprise was it was a set menu and not a la-carte for that particular day. I believe the reason would be they can manage the crowd being a valentine's day but they failed to manage that anyway. As I said it was a set menu unlimited serve please mind the word "unlimited'. We ordered 2 veg and 2 non-veg set meals. After a wait for half an hour we got our starters with 1 piece of each variety. I asked the waitress to get me another round of starters, she replied if that is okay if she serves me with the main course as its being prepared. I replied how does it make sense to serve the starter with the main course. She was so adamant, despite of me asking repeatedly for the starters she cleared the plates. We waited waited and waited so finally, after 45 mins we got our main course served, and let me tell you the food was unpalatable. And still the starters I was promised was not served despite of complaining to the manager. And here is the crux we were not the only one all the people around us complaining the same thing. It was our first time and we had high hopes as we wanted to make a birthday evening memorable but it turned into a disastrous evening! What I noticed that they were lacking the manpower and only 1 person was serving on 5-6 tables. SO this is called fine dining I am sure! It's fine if you have not been served properly! lol!!! I strongly do not recommend this place if anyone wishes to experience...
Read moreWe joined diya for the celebration of my parent's wedding anniversary and the experience was truly delightful! From the scenic views at terrace garden, with feel a sense of peace and calm, to the luxurious and elegant dining hall, it was all worth it!! The restaurant had a live ghazal which blended beautifully with the royalty themed decor providing the perfect ambience. We were accompanied by Jeet, our waiter who was really friendly, he recommended us the best dishes and ensured we faced no difficulties. Overall, the dishes were prepared and presented perfectly. The protions were adequate but the quality did not disappoint. There were a variety of vegetarian options and the beetroot tikki starter was arguably the best one. The non veg dishes were prepared in Indian marinades giving them a traditional taste. Our time with Diya was an incredible experience and we would definitely...
