I recently celebrated my birthday at Amarela, and I must say it was a truly pleasant experience. The place was nice, clean, and had a peaceful vibe — perfect for a relaxed outing.
We were in a fairly large group, so it took us some time to decide on our orders. But the staff were extremely patient and impressive. The person taking our order waited calmly without rushing us, which was much appreciated.
Although this wasn’t my first visit to Amarela, I was touched once again by the hospitality of the owner. Just like before, he came over personally with a warm smile and even brought a bunch of chocolates for the kids in our group — something he always seems to do. I have a feeling he might actually carry chocolates in his pocket all the time! 😄
The restaurant is quite spacious — if you're celebrating a special occasion (not just a regular visit), it can comfortably accommodate around 60 guests, maybe even more, especially if you're combining it with a few regular diners. There's also a nice open-air section that works well for small get-togethers or casual celebrations.
One small detail that really caught my attention — and I personally love things like this — is the comment wall right at the entrance. It's a big wall where guests can leave handwritten notes or comments about their visit. It instantly reminded me of the Note Cafe in Vietnam. While this may not appeal to everyone, for someone like me who enjoys thoughtful little touches, it felt warm, interactive, and charming.
One small note for fellow vegetarians like me — since Assolna is known for its seafood, vegetarian options might be a bit limited. But the overall experience, ambiance, and hospitality more than...
Read moreIt's been a minute craving proper Goan seafood. 2 days after arriving here, my former boss/friend and 2 colleagues decided to take me yesterday evening to AMARELA for some seafood. The entrance to the leads you down a pathway to the restaurant, which is well spaced out with the seating arrangements and very well maintained. We sat down and ordered some lipsmackingly delicious crab masala xec xec, anchovies deep fried, king fish masala fry, mussels rawa fry, cheese naan, chicken fried rice, green chicken kebabs, prawns creamy butter garlic. I also had a blue lagoon mocktail as well. The property was pretty clean, car parking facilities are available as were the toilet facilities. The wait staff were always on hand when required. Highly recommended giving AMARELA a try...
NEW VISIT:- 16/12/2023. Visited Amarela after a gap of 2 years, needless to say the food is as excellent as it was when I last visited Amarela 2 years ago. We had the lepo rawa fry ( crispy golden brown, decent sized fish, portion and really tasty), mussels rawa fry which was as good as the lepos, beef tongue roast (amazingly tasty and soft), chicken tandoori was really good as well ( ample amount of masala and the chicken was nice and juicy), Goan sausage pulao (good amount of Goan sausages, prepared well and very tasty, portion size was really good) and finally for dessert we had the chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice-cream (the chocolate brownie was nicely warmed up and the vanilla ice-cream along with the chocolate sauce drizzle made this dessert a very pleasant end to the wonderful lunch we had at AMARELA... Keep up the great work everyone...
Read moreFinally we checked out this latest addition to Assolna lane - Amarela! The ambiance of this place is cozy with beautiful river view which gets even prettier in the evening. It has very spacious seating area, suitable for large groups. Their menu has wide variety of items to choose from, authentic goan cuisine being the highlight.
We ordered: Prawns rava fry: Crispy and tasty! Prawns were very fresh. The quantity justifies the price.
Squids batter fry: Recommended. These were perfectly done and the quantity was generous, perfect munchies for sharing on the table.
Recheado Kalundar(Pearl spot): Must try! Recheado masala was on point and complimented Kalundars so well. For the first time we tried Kalundar with recheado masala and we absolutely loved it. This is now in our list of favourites.
Crab xec xec: Must try! This is their speciality and it goes without saying. If you are in Assolna, you cannot miss crab xec xec. Amarela does justice to this emotion. It was lip-smacking and heavenly good.
Caramel pudding: Recommended. Their in-house caramel pudding was delicious and perfect end to meal.
Amarela's special cocktail: Must try! This cocktail is a unique combination of alcohol and freshness. It has a base of white rum and dark rum.
Arabian seabreeze: This mocktail is a refreshing blend of cranberry juice, apple juice and lemonade.
Service: Quick and prompt. It's bit slow during peak hours specially on weekends.
Cost: Most of the items are in range of 200 to 300 bucks. Fish prices are as per size.
Would definitely recommend this place! It's perfect for a leisurely weekend dineout with your...
