I just recently purchased a property at Sawantwadi and on instance of a friend visited ankita classic . Its a restaurant in goa and close to 15 km from sawantwandi on mumbai banglore highway. A nice cozy restaurant tucked in a lane. I visited twice for food though booze is cheaper but i am amore connoisseurs of good food.. well on first day i tried.. squid chilly , prawns tawa fry, bangda raechedo , teesrya masala and chicken fried rice to end the meal with a bottle of antiquity . Though very reasonably priced the food was super tasty no complaints squid chilli had an unique goan taste with tangy , spicy flavour notes , prawns tawa fry was just so flavourful the bite that exploded in mouth just gave a foodgasm any foodie would want for, teesrya masal had a peculiar taste of its own .. its own basque of glory was coconut masala..bangda rachedo was mind boggling, fresh mackrel stuffed with the special tangy red colour racheido masala was so fresh that i would like it to be my last meal ever. Chicken fried rice was simple and sober that a indian Chinese flavour can be. 5/5 for 1st day
On my second day i went again to explore more fish varieties. This was a disappointment hence 4/4 for 2nd day , the consistency was lacking somewhere.. either due to house packed customers . I tried squid batter fry though i had asked squid butter garlic the waiter heard it wrong or maybe be my words went filtered to his ears. Batter fry squid is tasteless not to yummy just another fish bhajiya to be precise, saundale tawa fry was good, fresh fish with red masala properly shallow fried and tasty, prawns rachedo masala was good but the rachedo masala batch was different then what i had on my Mackrel the other day ..it was tangy but light colured.,though flavour was ok but not appealing,i ordered a chilly cheese garlic naan to wipe some of the plates.. it gives proper honour to the dishes i think, prawn chillies though prawns were homogeneous the chilli masala did not compliment its texture , to end the day I ordered prawns fried rice.. the most pathetic dish of our culinary journey. Tasteless and worst end to our flavourful journey.
In all a hit day and a missed day next.. may be next time will let me know the consistent name these guys keep is for good food or just another...
Read moreReturning to Goa, our taste buds yearned for the unique flavors of Goan cuisine. Thanks to a serendipitous Instagram Reel, we stumbled upon Ankita Classic in Pernem, and boy, were we glad we did!
Parking Restaurant is little on interior roads from high way but there are ample of parking and helpful staff, a blessing considering the scorching sun outside.
Ambience Stepping inside, we were greeted by a warm ambiance – charming paintings and inspiring quotes adorned the walls, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The friendly staff further amplified the positive vibes, and to our delight, they even offer special family rooms for added privacy.
Space wasn't an issue either. Comfortable chairs at the perfect table height exuded elegance and a touch of luxury, while family portraits and motivational quotes provided a personal touch. Everything was impeccably organized, from the cutlery to the clean washroom facilities, and the fully air-conditioned space provided a refreshing escape from the heat.
Food But the true star of the show was the food! We started with the chilly chicken, which was decent but slightly tough, possibly due to frozen chicken or our early arrival. However, the refreshing lemon juice, served in a clear plastic cup, hit the spot.
Then came the Kingfish Thali, and it was pure culinary bliss! Two perfectly fried pieces of kingfish, one large and one small, both bursting with freshness and flavor, stole the show. But that wasn't all! The thali was a celebration of Goan cuisine, featuring rice, a prawn curry (yes, with actual prawns!), salad, kismoor, a squid tomato mix, crabs, clams, bhaji, chapati, sol kadi, lonche(pickle), and gulab jamun. And for a mere 360 Rs., it was an absolute steal!
Everything tasted amazing, with the rice cooked to perfection and the curry (made of green chilly rather than red) being quite good, although personally, we still favor Ritz's version. Nonetheless, the entire experience had us singing praises of this...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Ankita Restaurant for quite some time, often recommending it to friends and family. However, during my recent visit, I was left quite disappointed.
I ordered the chicken lollipop, which sadly was not crispy and seemed pre-cooked, refried, and tasteless. The deep-fried squid came heavily coated in a thick batter — it felt like 80% flour and only 20% squid, with no real flavor. The biggest letdown, however, were the prawns, which tasted like they had been precooked and simply reheated. They turned out powdery on the palate and far from fresh.
What’s frustrating is that I’ve heard similar feedback from others whom I had recommended this place to, and now I understand why. On this visit, the food quality and taste were nowhere near what I used to expect. I ended up switching to Chinese dishes instead, and while the noodles were actually good, the rest of the dishes felt like they came from mass industrial production rather than a proper restaurant kitchen.
As someone who has always supported Ankita Restaurant, my humble request to management is to please maintain the standards that made this place special in the first place. I really hope this was just an off day.
On a positive note, I must mention that the staff are still amazing — warm, attentive, and the highlight of the experience.
I will visit again soon in hopes of seeing improvements. Please take this feedback when i visit next hopefully it'll not...
