Looking for a restaurant with a sea view?BABAZIN…..This is a hidden gem in Goa. Located in Nerul, Verem and which is also very close to the historic & iconic Reis Magos fort.
We took a ferry ride from Panaji to Betim, it was an adventure in itself. The wait time was around 15-20 mins but the experience was worth it.
We took the Verem-Saligao road and from Betim its about 4kms. Within 10-12 mins we were at Babazin. There is a lot of parking space just opposite the restaurant. This restaurant specializes in Goa cusine and sea food and is frequently visited by top celebs like Suneil Shetty, Indian Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, Sameera Reddy.
MEET ROHAN…A BIG THANKS TO HIM, whatever he had recommended was super delicious and fresh. The menu is kept short and sweet and for people who love Goan cuisine. They do serve few chinese dishes like Chicken, egg, seafood fried rice.
They also serve pork dishes but they don't serve Fish Thali and Beef. Plan your day trip in a way where you can take a ferry ride from Panaji jetty to Betim, head to Reis Magos fort, explore the fort and reach Babazin which is just 5 mins away by 1:00 pm to explore the beautiful sea view along with delicious food.
The rates are quite reasonable and the staff is very friendly and quick with their service. They also have proper Goan chef's who make sure that the dishes are nailed to perfection and it shows through the flavors, masala which they prepare in house.
What more you can ask for. Great food sitting, relaxing watching the ocean, sipping your glass of beer!

Read moreOUR EXPERIENCE: I had visited Babazin on 27th December 2015, with my family. We were four of us. There was a group celebrating a birthday that evening. The place was not packed and had the open air section which had no takers. Just as we proceeded to take one of the vacant tables, the waiter said that it was reserved. He then showed us a table for five under an awning, which we were not interested in. Since there was ample space in the corner of the deck, we requested the waiter to accommodate us there. The fellow was so rude that he said we will have to sit under the tent. It was only after my requesting him in Konkani that he obliged. Once we were seated he gave us the menu and disappeared only to attend to two youngsters who sat at the table which the waiter had ordered us to sit at earlier. I presume the two youth were either who's who or sons of who's who, because I noticed the owner of the shack come personally to attend to them, despite the fact that we had arrived and also placed our order much earlier.
We realised that there was no point talking to anyone out there. We had our drinks, paid up and walked out, never to return.
THE VERDICT: The attending staff of Babazin's is very arrogant, the food is not up to the mark and the owners least interested. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
NOTE TO THE OWNERS: Dear owner,
You have a beautiful place. However, the ambience is not commensurate with attitude. You have a long way to go...
By the way, of the two people who accompanied us that night, one is the President of world's leading financial institution and the other is a Sr. Editor of the Times of India... and I am a Goan!
Our advise to you, Sir: Never judge a book by its cover..
Wish you a very happy New Year!

Read moreI recently went into this well know restaurant with a friend which is loved by the locals and the tourist . Within half an hour of dining the waiter requested us to shift to another table cz my friend was smoking and next to us was another table of 4 with the family seated , we asked why since we were seated before them and if smoking isn’t allowed on our table then why did you put an ashtray ? He politely understood and requested the other table to move . But it dint go down to well with the owner and he came up to us and was rude and called us obnoxious, all we did was as tell him the same thing that we told the waiter , also there is no smoking board at the restaurant apart from the narcotics one . Ofcourse we will never return and just think about the income the restaurant would have made having us or our friends and their family in there consistently, over months decades ,it would add up to many tens of thousands. If not more (we love good food and expensive wines ) and if he treated us well we would have eaten there a few more times in a week and tipped like a King . All lost because the opener was more focused on his ego than on forging good relationships with the human beings who made the Choice to show up at his restaurant. He treated people poorly rather than seeing growing personal connections as an opportunity (that would bring happiness to himself and others -along with raising...
