A place whose ratings certainly flatter to deceive.
The 3 stars are actually generous and thats perhaps more for the garden than the food or service.
This place is similar to Garden of Dreams in food levels, basically dated European food made out of sub-standard ingredients.
The chef was defensive for the most part and responded with being condescending. Props to him for not taking it further by saying 'Ill take your feedback', but too late after already reacting.
So what happened? I ordered for a Mediterranean Platter, acc to the description the hummus was supposed to be a full bowl. Rather this was a shallow plate. But what surprised me how it tasted and how runny it was. There was something so gravely off about it.
When I flagged it, I was told the following things A. The israelis like it so it must be good. B. This is how Hummus tastes, proceeding to tell me the recipe in a condescending manner.
First of all I have no concern for which white folx you idolise. Secondly, i am not here to educated on what hummus must be.
I am only giving feedback when the server asked me for one. By using arguments that are logical fallacies, only makes the conversation go into tangents. Sure if you will, I actually lived in various parts of middle east for years sampling all the hummus. I actually run hummus takeaways in Bangalore.
Also, while marketing/branding is great, the product must match it too. The description said Goan Pita bread, for it to turn out to be Goan Poi 🤦 Poi is not nice texture with either falafel/hummus/tahini. If i knew better, Id have requested regular toast instead beforehand. Young chefs must match quality with promise.
Coming to ambience, Iwanted to check out if I could sit here to write and my partner could work on her laptop everyday, but seems like the peeps who run this place also consider it as a communal space. (Much like a hostel)
Right after this interaction, we had them smoking around where we are eating. Not against smoking, but please avoid it around people eating. And all the cross shouting got too noisy.
The many kittens will trouble you by trying to jump into your food, but thats alright. They are young, they'll learn.
A sunday morning turned out to be a challenging experience.
I think this is why Google reviews are so big in India unlike other countries. Owners cant take feedback without getting defensive. I had no intention to fight or argue, just pass on what I felt. ( And that too because i was asked by the server) Thats the least I can do for the food...

Read moreBageecha is a lovely place that is so well-entwined with the natural space within where it's located. You can be sitting at the tables or the raised area and looking out, you'll see the green of the land, the trees, and the little artworks they have made and incorporated into the decor of the place. For example, a beetle made out of a painted rock! They had only been open for a few days when I visited in October 2022, so they had a particular menu at that point in time. The food was reasonably priced and quite good. The overall vibe of the place was relaxing and it's definitely a good...
