Chanced Upon this Cafe by Chance, was searching for restaurant to have a quick meal, but as mentioned chanced upon Cafe Soopoo. One is greeted at the entrance by 7-8 dogs, but do not worry all the dogs were enjoying the afternoon siesta (or were susegaad) as done by majority of the local Goans. So no need to be scared, but no harm in being alert. Food must be ordered over the counter, the food/snacks are on display (dummy food/snack replicas) in the ordering area and even though there is a menu, all food/snack items are not available, so kindly check for availability prior to placing an order based on the Menu/ items on display in the Ordering area. Lack of staff, there were only 2 people ((both were highly disinterested)) to take the order, probably man the kitchen (as they keep on going in the kitchen area on and off), deliver the order on the ordering counter and do the billing too...So really a lack of staff. Later another pleasant staff member joined {but I was through with my lunch). Anyways, good decor, nice ambience, good seating arrangements too. It was during Christmas, so the place was very well decorated too. Had the Chicken & Mushroom Pizza each, Chicken Momos, Veg Sandwich, Blushing Chicken Pasta & the Ham & Cheese Croissant. All the food dishes were lovely except for the Pizza where the Pizza Rind or the Cornicione (puter edge of the pizza) was thick and rubbery thereby spoiling the good taste of the pizza. However the overall quality of food was Good. Some Goan dishes were advertised for, but were Out of Stock/ Unavailable. Overall, a good place to visit, good place to chill over some snacks/ food items and decently priced too.. Cafe was lacking in 3 main areas, 1). lack of Staff, 2). Rubbery/ thick Pizza Rind. 3). Unavailability of Goan Dishes (though advertised) Kindly improve on these 3 areas and it is definitely a place worth re-visiting. Can try the Pasta, Sandwich...
Read moreI Visited the cafe on a weekend with less to no crowd just me and the people I came with and 3 other people in the cafe.
Things that I tried. -Chicken Grilled Sandwich (4/5)⭐ -Chicken Nuggets (Taste 4/5 ⭐) (Quantity - okay-ish they gave around 6 piece) Prawns Rissois (2/5)⭐ Chocolate Donut (-1/5)⭐ Chocolate Brownie Sizzler(-5/5)⭐
I can say either the sweet dishes that I order where the worst in the menu or my luck with them were bad.
Chocolate Donut was on display i tried that and it was not at all soft rather to take a bite we had to use force to break it ... Seemed they served a old stock to us..
Coming to Chocolate Brownie Sizzler... Man it was the worst... They don't know how to serve it... They burnt the whole brownie... To be elaborate.... They served the brownie straight on top of the sizzler base... If anyone has ever seen/eaten an actual desert brownie ... There is a base of something either cashew or almond at bottom or anything on top of that the molten Chocolate is poured and then the brownie so that Brownie doesn't burn and on top of that ice-cream. Whereas there people kept the brownie and ice-cream straight on the sizzler hot vessel( I have uploaded a video of it). When I went ahead and complaint about this to the owner she said this how it is served and it's normal that it will be burnt... And it's a matter of taste that we are not liking it... I was like what the hell.. I told her I have tasted sizzlers before in many places... But she was like... It's our taste issue... Later she gave us 2 scoops of icecream on a bowl... [ HOPEFULLY THE OWNER SEE'S THIS AND CHANGE IT TO A PROPER WAY ].... SO UNTIL THIS HAPPENS DON'T TRY SIZZLER.
No doubt that the ambiance is good rather it's Amazing... Maybe I should have tried other dishes.. Maybe...
Read moreI recently visited this cafe and was thoroughly disappointed. The service started off poorly when the staff member taking our order displayed an incredibly arrogant and dismissive attitude. She seemed more interested in chatting with her coworkers than attending to us, and as a result, she missed several items from our order. When we pointed this out, she shrugged it off, saying, "This is all we have," which was both frustrating and unprofessional.
We waited far too long for our drinks, and when they finally arrived, they were incorrect. I asked for a mojito, expecting something refreshing, but what I received was a dreadful mix that tasted more like syrup than a proper cocktail. It was overly sweet, masking any hint of the mint and lime that should have made it enjoyable.
The food was equally disappointing. Everything we ordered lacked flavor and freshness, making the experience feel like a waste of time and money. Additionally, the staff seemed indifferent to our concerns; when we tried to mention the issues with our drinks, we were met with rolled eyes and hasty responses.
Overall, the combination of poor service and subpar food left a sour taste in my mouth—figuratively and literally. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a pleasant...
