Flames Restaurant — Restaurant in Goa

We ordered a chicken biryani, one king fish thali, and two lime sodas, and let me say this was the most disappointing meal I’ve had in a long time.

The chicken biryani was completely bland no flavour, no aroma, and absolutely no effort. It tasted like rice with some boiled chicken thrown in as an afterthought.

As a Goan, I had high hopes for the king fish thali, but it turned out to be a disaster. The curry was so oily that it could have been used to make two additional curries! It was clear the chef is not Goan because no Goan would serve such a poor excuse for fish curry.

The king fish portion was ridiculously small, and for sides, they served two dry bhajis—tambdi bhaji (red leaf spinach) and bhendi (ladyfinger). Why two bhajis? A proper Goan thali should have dry fish kismoor or something authentic, not this disappointing mess. To top it off, both bhajis were tasteless and overcooked.

They also served tisri sukha (clams), but they were raw and inedible. I tried one and immediately stopped.

No doubt they will organise your dish very nicely it looks appealing but the taste is a complete disappointment. To make matters worse, the order took around 45 minutes to arrive, which added to the frustration.

The real shocker? This subpar fish thali cost ₹550! I’ve never seen a Goan restaurant charge over ₹400 for a fish thali, especially one this bad.

This was, without a doubt, my worst thali experience ever. Save your money and go...
