I stumbled upon a quaint, family run Asian restaurant in Hollant, close to Bogmalo, at the end of a narrow village road. The area isn't well known for its food, so imagine my surprise to come across an Asian restaurant run by a Goan-Indonesian family who have lived in the Far East.
The entire family is hands-on when it comes to running the restaurant. I was told by the daughter that 'Masak' in Indonesia means 'cook.' While their mother is behind the scenes in terms of the food, the kids actively manage the floor. The menu was concise and curated so well as to introduce Asian flavours to the area by way of familiar textures and flavours. And it seems to be working, for the restaurant sees a flow of locals and repeat guests, even though it is so new.
Try the papaya salad (Som Tam) - it is made with home grown papayas plucked by the family. The Chicken Katsu is a crowd favourite, and the steak as well as the fish make for delicious mains. The menu has items like tempura, sushi, ramen, grills, curries, Khao Suey, wok-tossed stir fries and noodles and more. Definitely worth checking out!

Read morethis is the first review that am giving in public. but I had to because it was a big disappointment for us. First, the place and the vibes are nice. someone shared about this place and dance night. I was there yesterday with my friends. and it was my first time here in Goa. so I was excited about dancing night. also brought my friends. but it was a big disappointment. we went inside and there is no one took any initiative to talk to us or take orders. we were waiting and no response. later we went to the receptionist and asked how things worked they gave us a seat and gave menu. again we were looking at them to take our order. and no response we just left place after 30 minutes. ( because I went there with my foreign friends they said we should go back cuz no one was there to take orders or attend to us)and yes the place was not crowded just less...
Read moreWe had arrived with our baby for our stay in dad's yard..however due to early check-in we were asked to wait for sometime. My baby (5 month old) was not very comfortable because we had travelled for 1 hr. It was our last day of two weeks goa visit. We thought of sitting in the restaurant for sometime under the fan however the restaurant lady asked us to sit on of the tables where there was no fan and lot of mosquitos...when asked if we could sit near the fan she said only if we wish to dine there.
We had no issues of having food there just that the wait was for 5 minutes and we ended sitting in the corner and got bit my mosquitos.
When we got to know the wait would be more ,we ended up ordering some food and moved ourselves under the fan. The food we ordered Jasmine rice, steam rice and Thai red curry was okkiesh. Rice...
