Downtown Restro Cafe — Restaurant in Gujarat

Basically, this restaurant was initially a part of the "Pepperazzi" chain, whose food I simply loved. Later on, all restaurants of this chain closed down in Rajkot, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. This new place "Downtown" essentially serves the same menu as "Pepperazzi" did.

The taste is as good as old times. However, we had one major issue. It might seem a small thing for some, but I found it oddly troubling. When we sat on a table, there was a 1 litre water bottle already present on all tables. Initially we thought it was complimentary, however we thought it is better to confirm. So we asked the waiter, he said the water is chargeable. We asked him to serve us regular water which is usually provided in all restaurants free. He told us there is no option for that, and we will have to purchase water. We again asked him- "Dont you guys have regular filter water?". So he went and came back with a Bisleri 1 litre bottle.

Now here comes the funny part - we asked him what was the difference between the two? He told us the bisleri bottle is also chargeable. It costs Rs 20. And the bottle which they had already kept on the table initially charged around Rs 50😮

Now we all purchase water whenever we go to cafes. But since when did water become paid in routine restaurants? Also, why the exorbitant rates? When you already have routine bisleri bottles worth twenty rupees, why are you providing fifty rupees bottles? Imagine the profit they are making out of only water! Many clients realize later that the water was chargeable. By then, already 2-3 bottles have been purchased.

I found this act extremely unprofessional on part of the restaurant management. If they are charging a certain amount for water, it is their duty to inform the customer regarding the same. And they have to do it properly, and not just casually mumble it when they are...
