Having dined at The Secret Kitchen’s Vadodara outlet twice before, I had a fair idea of what to expect here in Rajkot beautiful plating, stunning decor, but food that often leans more towards presentation than depth of flavor. My Rajkot visit was quite similar.
We started with the TSK Palak Chaat, crispy spinach leaves dressed up with chutneys, curd, sev, and pomegranate. It looked beautiful and the flavors were good, but it felt a bit heavy after a few bites.
The Amritsari Paneer was one of the better dishes of the night, the paneer was fresh, soft, and well-marinated, paired nicely with the gravied base. Alongside, we ordered the Secret Roomali, which honestly wasn’t so “secret.” It was a green roomali roti coloured with spinach purée visually striking, but taste-wise, nothing extraordinary. The Reshmi Paratha on the other hand was quite flavorful on its own. Think of the triangle parathas your mom makes with layered folds, this one had great multiple layers too(similar to the puff pastry doughy thing), but what it lacked was that flaky crispness on top and bottom that makes you tear into it with joy.
Finally, for dessert, we tried Chef Aanal’s Autograph. It’s presented with flair chocolate bowl, brownie crumble, vanilla ice cream, hot chocolate sauce poured dramatically on top. A great spectacle for kids and Instagram, but for adults looking purely at flavors, it’s essentially a brownie sundae in fancy plating. Definitely skippable unless you’re here for the show.
Overall, Rajkot’s TSK continues the same vibe as Vadodara, a place that wins on ambience and presentation, but the food still has room to grow. Worth a visit if you’re curious, but go in with tempered...
Read moreTitle: Inconsistent Quality, but Some Highlights
I recently dined at this restaurant, and while there were moments of culinary delight, my overall experience was marred by some significant issues.
The first disappointment came when our waiter was abruptly reassigned from our table. This left us feeling neglected and frustrated, as we had been in the middle of discussing our order. It was a bad start to our dining experience.
For our starters, we ordered Broccoli Almond, Mac and Cheese, and Khowshy Soup. The Broccoli Almond and Khowshy Soup were highlights of the meal. The soup was particularly outstanding and quite different from the usual fare. Unfortunately, the Mac and Cheese didn't live up to our expectations; it lacked the rich, creamy goodness we were hoping for.
Moving on to the main course, we selected Tava Punjabi Undhiyu and Lakhnavi Paneer Butter Masala. These dishes were quite flavorful and satisfying, showcasing the chef's skills. However, the consistency issues emerged when we ordered Chees Garlic Naan. The first naan had nothing stuffed inside, which was a major letdown. Thankfully, the second naan was deliciously stuffed with cheese. This inconsistency in food quality was disappointing.
In conclusion, while there were aspects of our dining experience that we appreciated, such as the standout Khowshy Soup and some delicious main dishes, the inconsistent quality, abrupt service changes, and underwhelming Mac and Cheese were significant drawbacks. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues to ensure a more consistent and enjoyable dining experience for...
Read moreAmazing Ambience, very creative decor & seating arrangements.
However the table-top smelt of stale, dirty mop - we had to ask for room spray...dint help much, though!
Ordered Cheese Nachos (Jain), mac & cheese soup (Jain), Khowsuey, Firangi Crispy Veg (Jain), Arrabiata Pasta & some Gulab jamun dessert.
Happy that Jain options were available. Firangi Crispy Veg & Pasta tasted yummy!
Khowsuey was passably good.
But, the Cheese Nachos dint have ANY CHEESE, it only had white sauce instead! When we asked the management, they insisted that the white semi-liquid they have given along, is melted Cheese - what a lie!!! As if we have never had nachos anywhere else or tasted Cheese ever.
The mac & cheese soup MISSED MACRONI Big time... a single penne pasta was maybe sliced into several small chunks to make it look like there is little mac somewhere at the bottom. Was actually expecting this novel soup to be more like a Mac & Cheese baked dish...
And the Gulab jamun dessert lacked the Pista crumble (it was mentioned in the description).
Must visit for the cosy seating arrangements & Decor... & a few items on their menu. The rest of the items on the menu can definitely be enhanced.
And always remember the golden rule - customer is the king in any business - if we said its not cheese, it's white sauce- ACCEPT IT. We friends were there to enjoy a good meal & have some fun, not to sit & find faults...
