The Waterside Restaurant in Gandhinagar offers a delightful dining experience that combines exceptional cuisine with a serene ambiance. Nestled along the picturesque Narmada Canal on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, this restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating options, making it ideal for various occasions, from intimate candlelight dinners to family gatherings. The menu is diverse, featuring Indian, Asian, and Mexican cuisines, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate. Diners have praised the restaurant for its delicious food and courteous staff. One reviewer noted, "I have visited many restaurants, but this one is a very delightful restaurant located on Narmada Canal S.G. highway. Very mannerful staff, very delicious food, and lots of variety is there." The Waterside is also renowned for its scenic views, especially from the upper deck, where guests can enjoy their meals while overlooking the tranquil canal. The ambiance is enhanced by mood lighting and fountains, creating a serene environment that complements the dining experience. As one patron mentioned, "The Waterside Restaurant is a culinary gem! The food is exceptional, showcasing freshness and flavor. With a charming waterfront view, it's perfect for any occasion." Whether you're planning a romantic evening, a family dinner, or a special event like a wedding or photoshoot, The Waterside Restaurant caters to all with its versatile spaces and top-notch services. Its proximity to both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar makes it a convenient choice for those seeking a memorable dining experience away from the city's hustle and bustle. In summary, The Waterside Restaurant combines delectable cuisine, attentive service, and a tranquil setting, making it a must-visit destination for anyone in the Gandhinagar area.

I have visited The Waterside multiple times in the past, and it has always been a pleasant experience in terms of ambience and service. However, as per the price, the food is not at all satisfactory. Yesterday, my wife and I decided to go there for dinner, and while the atmosphere once again impressed me, the food this time had mixed results — and unfortunately, an unpleasant after-effect. We started with the Lucknowi Galouti, described as Lucknow-style kebabs served with green chutney and some fresh veggies. The portion size was generous — six large pieces — and the texture was nice. While the stuffing was different from a regular kebab, I didn’t find it drastically unique in flavour. Overall, it was a good start but nothing extraordinary. I would rate it 3/5. Next, we tried the Indian Spiced Magic Pizza, topped with paneer tikka, corn kernels, bell peppers, chillies, and tomatoes. The concept sounded appealing, but the execution fell short for me. The flavours felt unbalanced, and the overall taste was underwhelming. I’d rate this 2/5. For my drink, I went with the Jamun Coriander Mocktail — unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of the night. It had too many strong flavours in one sip, with an overpowering tangy and salty profile. The taste reminded me of jaljeera or digestive drinks like Hajmola, which made it hard to enjoy on its own. Personally, I couldn’t finish it. Worst of all, after the meal, both my wife and I felt extremely uneasy, and I ended up vomiting later early in the morning. That said, The Waterside still shines in its ambience, attentive service, and live music, which together create a wonderful dining vibe — but based on this experience, I will think twice before visiting again.

August by waterside :

One of the many restaurants located at the waterside, August specialises in serving Punjabi and fusion food. The interiors are fairly new and the ambience surely promises to give you a fine dining experience.

On the food front we tried :

Jaljira Mocktail : Really refreshing and fresh. Perfect thirst quencher. 4/5

Yellow lentils Cappuccino soup : This one had overpowering taste of yellow daal and did not go too well with us. 2/5

Cheese Paneer tikka : Layered paneer with cheese stuffed between its layers. While the paneer got a bit chewy, the taste was really good. Would have loved some more cheese in between the layers. 3/5

Dahi kebab : One of the best we have had in town. One could feel the freshness of self cooked dahi. The coating was perfect and well crispy. 5/5

Chole with Pita bread : The combination sounded a bit weird and did not go well with each other, however both items were delicious and enjoyable when had individually. 4/5

Smoked Paneer butter masala : A routine Paneer Butter masala with a smoky effect. This one was really well cooked and surely tasty. 4/5

Aloo Cafreal : Alu cooked in Spinach gravy and topped with French Fries. Worth a try. 4/5

Birbal ki Khichdi : One of the few versions of khichdi which was not healthy (du to the excessive use of butter) but surely tasty. Might get a bit sweet, but surely tasty. 4/5

Motichoor Icecream : Mango icecream topped with freshly Cooked Motichoor. This one was a delight for sweet tongues. Odd combination, might not go well with everyone. 4/5

Overall the place looked really promising and surely a great option for people looking for those long drives...
