White Orchid Cafe and Restaurant — Restaurant in Haldwani

What an absolute delight for someone who is looking for a peaceful getaway from the city to have a cosy, warm, and good time with family and friends over some food and beverages. The White Orchid Cafe is nestled near the mountain ranges and located close to the railway station road. It is a quiet place with a variety of food and beverage options. I must say I was taken aback by the beauty of this place. The owner has done an outstanding job of creating a beautiful, cosy cafe with awesome vibes. The cafe has ample free parking along with sufficient space to hold those get-togethers with family and friends. It also has an alfresco area which can be a USP for this cafe, especially during the winter time. The food is decent enough, but I feel the service standards can be improved a little. I ordered a basic coffee along with a veg sandwich, but my regular table appointments were missing. There was no cutlery and napkins on my table; however, when I asked for the same, it was promptly delivered. Also, no water was offered, which is okay, I guess. The service standards are evolving for better or worse in the restaurant industry, but one must place a mineral water bottle on the table. That’s the basic courtesy these days. I confirmed one day prior to the cafe if they r available on the day i want to celebrate my bday at there place and they said yes. But the day after when i reached there , there was some function going on and no space was available+ just noise was all around the place even when i reached there at 4 pm .So, my friends and I was standing their having no idea of what to do now. Then they asked us to wait for 10 mins which eventually was not just 10 mins and after 20 mins they provided us seats, and the AC was not working they gave us table under just one fan. The washroom is downstairs you'll have to walk downstairs even if u want to wash ur hands

The food service was very delay. We ordered 3 spring rolls and received only 1. We ordered soya chap masala and received chilli paneer. I asked them to cancel fried rice and bring veg biryani , they brought both. My friends ordered soft drinks that they received whole after they finished their meal. The food was very below average except veg momos that too you will get only 6 pieces for 130/- . I can't tell u how upset I am with the place, staff and the management. Wanted to stop over in Haldwani to rest and eat between Mukteshwar and Delhi and pit stopped here.

I really didn’t understand the hype. The food was terrible. Cold coffee was good but momos, chicken salad pineapple raita were terrible. Momos were average. Chicken salad was awful couldn’t have beyond one bite. Pineapple raita was full of sugar. I had told them to get without sugar but servers did not understand. Paneer labandar had weird oil and rotis were average.

Avoid at any cost. I am not sure why the rating. People had recommended ginger lemon tea on Google but it was so strong I could barely have more than a sip.

Adding here to respond to the note by owner- I completely agree with them on the part that me taking a nap on their side sofa due to travelling with baby may not be looking good and they objected to it. His restaurant his rules. Although no one in past while travel has objected to it. And let me add there was not a single person at that place when I lied back. Not a soul. Still that’s a personal incident subject to interpretation and genuinely has nothing to with the food review. I had detoured to come to this restaurant as it came highly recommended.
