"বং chow" Heard a lot about this restaurant...So on Navami went there to try their food..And I want to share my bitter sweet experience there..
We(3 ppl) reached there at around 8pm..Firstly enlisted my name in the waiting list then they said to wait for minimum 40 mints as no seats are available...As we have enough time so we decided to wait..But within 10mints they called my name and we were given a seat with 2 other people...As I was not comfortable with it,I told them to arrange a separate table..But again they said you have to sit there otherwise it will take 1hr to get a separate table...So we sat there instead of our unwillingness..Then we ordered the food.. For Startar- Fish Fry(1pc)- 120/- Teriyaki Chicken (8pc)- 210/- For main course- Bong chow spl Rice-230/- Chilli Chicken (10pc)-220/-
After ordering the food we saw a table just behind us got empty..so we shifted there..after 5-8 mints our starter came.. Teriyaki chicken was super yummy..it had all the flavours of the sauce inside the chicken also..The fish fry was not the traditional Bengali fish fry type but it was more fish and chips style..The fish fry was also nice and crispy though the size was very small compared to the price... After starter the main part came.. For our main course we waited more than 30mints..But with the thought that the main course will be scrumptious like the starters we waited..Then our main course came..First the bong chow spl rice..I didn't find any speciality in the spl rice..The rice was just tossed with some flavourless sauce and served..The chilli chicken was also bland in taste( My mother cooks better chilli chicken than the chilli chicken that was served)Not at all satisfied with the main course..One of the staff asked us about the food and as we said we didn't liked the main course..they asked us if we want any other in return..But we didn't took anything more and came out..
One thing I liked about them was they didn't charged us for the main course..and one of the waiter was so humble and generous and very polite in behaviour..
But what I didn't like was the behaviour of a particular staff outside at the entrance gate..He was showing so much attitude as if i had made a mistake of complaining them..Rather he was asking questions, taking my phone no and blah blah blah..He even said that they have sent the items for tasting and will surely send me a review later..but still I'm waiting for that review..
Some things I would like to say is that..If you people are so much confident about the food then why any of you don't taste it in front of me when I kept saying to taste it!!!econdly please change your behaviours towards your customers..And learn to accept positive as well as negative remarks with same attitude..
That's all.. Wishing bong chow team a very good luck..The ambience,the interior,the music(they played Ed Sheeran❤️),choices of the plates and those photo frames here and there depicting the history of Chinese food...
Read moreMe and my wife went to this place on Saptami. We had a very good experience there. Although some of the things which we noticed could have been done in a better way but nevertheless we spent a good time in Bong Chow. Let me tell you the good things first: The place is located on the main road so no issues in finding it The ambience and decorations inside are quite soothing which is not very common in chinese resturants these days. Probably the reason is the place is new. I just hope they continue the same way in coming days also Inside temperature was nicely maintained. Generally after having some smoky hot chinese people tend to sweat. We were happy that they took good care of that Staffs were courteous except the person at the reception outside the restaurant. Probably the summer heat outside that made him dingy Food portions were adequate. One plate of any item would suffice for two people mostly Food was quite delicious. Flavours were mostly upto the mark and nicely blended with chinese herbs Pricing was fare and worthy for such quantity of tasty food Service was very prompt and food was served in time Last but no the least, hygene was maintained properly. Though the staffs were not wearing gloves(which was fine to us for a small restaurant like this) but they had their masks on all the time
Now let me write about the things which could have been improved: Over use of chilli in the chinese food takes away the real flavours to some extend. We recommend it to be reduce in dishes especially in soup items Noodles were overcooked so it became softer than expected. That killed the real taste to some extend Lemon soda sweet or salt helps to increase the appetite. Please include it in your menu next time Soft drinks are supposed to be served chilled and thats why it called cold drink. We did not expect that to be served of room temperature. Use of mineral water only was a good idea but during summer days there should be option to choose between cold and normal. Menu card was not very extensive and only had few basic items available It would be a good idea to keep sanitizers on every table
Must try dishes: Lemon corriender chicken soup Kung pao chicken as starter Bong Chow special noodles( request to bring down the spices level a bit) Any prawn items of main course
Pocket pinch: For two persons for a four course meal( 1soup, 1starter, 1main course and 1 gravy item for the main course) you need to pay approx Rs.1000/-
