I had always heard a lot about this restaurant from my wife, who would regularly visit this place. So, today after shopping from Avani Riverside mall, we decided to go for dinner in this restaurant. To talk about a few points about this place, I must emphasise on the following: 1. The restaurant is located right in Danesh Sheikh Lane and not at all difficult to locate 2. The ambience is that of old retro style restaurant but maintained very neatly 3. Staff behavior is just so good. They treat you well with courtsey 4. Food quality is very good. However, it must be stated that although they make Chinese and Indian items, both, really well, the Chinese tastes just Wow! 5. It won't pinch your pocket at all. While any average restaurant in kolkata will cost you ₹ 1000 to ₹ 1200 (fried rice, momo, chilli chicken) for two to three people, it costed me ₹ 900 for four people here. Items ordered were a fish fry, a chicken hot and sour soup, three paneer masala kulchas, one butter naan, one garlic chicken and one chicken bharta. That's crazy, I'm sure! So, dear Penguin 🐧 restaurant, a big thank you from our side to you. You have been doing a wonderful job.

This place has been a saviour for the locals innumerable times. I have been coming here since ages. This is the only option for people staying here, who feel lazy to cook a meal. Affordable and decent food. The taste is not extraordinary, but it's not bad too. The staff are extremely courteous and well mannered. The place has a nice family ambience. The Indian dishes have a lot of sugar in it, so some people may not like the taste. Tandoori items is something they are famous for. Tangri kebab, chicken tandoori, haryali kebab, garlic chicken dry, mutton biryani and nan roti. A good place for outing without a big pinch to the wallet. People who come to the Great Indian Botanical Garden, this place is for you to relish some taste warm tandoori and chinese cuisines.

One of the best place for a pocket friendly budget food in Howrah. This place literally makes food worth value for money. The staffs here are very informative and polite and friendly. The quantity of food is also sufficient. The taste is good without any doubt. You will find a bit queue while getting the table on weekends. We ordered Chicken Tandoori Full which tasted good with generous amount of chicken in it. And in main course, Mixed Fried rice, Egg Chicken Fried Rice, Mixed Noodles, Hongkong Chicken and Chicken Manchurian all of them tasted finger licking which was so good at that price. Moreover, a must try when budget is a bit low but a satisfying meal.

So me and my friends dropped by here to try the food as it was his last day in Kolkata. It was strongly recommended by our firend and the priority was it should not be so far from IIEST, Shibpur.

Venue/Ambiance 3/5 the décor is okay, nice plaster of paris statues.... needs to be a bit more clean... I would say.

Main course: 5/5 Schezwan Chicken Veg Manchurian Handi paneer Chicken Tikka Masala Veg Fried Rice Butter Naan Butter Roti

So we all agreed that the food was good and definately above par from the rest of the places we visited in Howrah. The dishes had all the right ingredients ... kasturi methi in the Chic. Tikka Masala etc. ..... The only issue is the pieces didnt feel like it was made in a Tandoor and the same was felt in the Paneer ... In paneer the pieces are very large .... Overall great food. The servers were very nice, polite and service is great.

So Overall really nice place and definately...

Probably the only restaurant in the area which is surviving for many many years. There have been quite a few local competitors, but none of them could compete well and got gradually shut down. Good choice of menu, though overall they taste either one or the other type (e.g. sweet, spicy, hot etc.). The quality of dishes deteriorated over the years (which is understandable as they have not proportionately increased price), but it is still probably the best in the area. Do not expect experience of a chain restaurant -- if you want reasonably priced, moderately tasty food and live in the locality, this is the place to be. Staff are more or less courteous, but don't expect too much. They also make home delivery of dishes with cash on delivery. The owner is a nice man and is known to me for many many years. If you want to have a small get together with friends, relatives -- this can be a good place. They don't...
