This is going to be a detailed feedback for the owners to take notice and the customers to choose a better place where the money spent seems worthwhile!!
To begin with, it doesn't look like a heritage property. It's unkempt, unmaintained, dingy and dark. The walk to the restaurant is long and uneventful since all water bodies were dirty and dry. It is strange that diwali has just passed and considering this place must need money to run, absolutely no money has been spent on aesthetics. Secondly, this is NOT a fine dining place. A fine dining place has table linen, table napkins, comfortable sitting, finger bowls etc, none of which is there at this restaurant. At best, it is an over priced casual eating place for which you don't need to dress nice. Feel free to go in your shorts and tshirt!!
Let's come to the service now. We waited 20 mins precisely to get the menu. Without even giving the menu, one of the guys wanted us to order food which was stupid. The waiter came after 20 more mins to take the order which was bizzare. A good restaurant needs to have a quicker turnaround at all times which this place completely missed at providing. There were many flies squatting around in the inside sitting area. If you are asking customers to sit inside, atleast have an insect repellent machine for god's sake!! Then finally when the person came and offered to give suggestions for the food, he ended up ordering similar tasting dishes for us which was preposterous. If you are recommending food, atleast have the sense to not suggest similar tasting cusines. In our case, the paneer and chicken had similar tasting gravies - can you believe that?? The time difference between appetizers and main course was approximately 45 mins. Also we ordered 2 appetizers which came 30 mins apart. Kindly do the math on how much time did it take for our entire meal to come. I repeatedly reminded them to check on our food. The staff promised and never came back. I also asked for the menu twice in between and that took additional 15 mins to get to us. How can getting a menu card for a customer take 15 mins?
Now let's talk about the food. The food was just okay. The portion sizes for the price were too small. We ordered 2 naans along with paneer and chicken but only one came. Even after reminding the 2nd one didn't come, which is a shame. We finally finished our food without ever getting the 2nd naan. Not only us, but i could hear people sitting at the table behind us complain about the cold soup and bad service - think about it!
In a nutshell, I fail to understand what is Jaipur's problem in maintaining a nice place for a good dining experience. Everyone wants to charge Delhi and Bombay prices but no one wants to invest in the maintainance and upkeep of the place which actually gets the business for them. How can a place call itself fine dining and not have table linens, napkins, finger bowls, mouth fresheners etc. at the end, which even a basic so called 2 star restaurant or a dhaba also provides!!
Finally after repeatedly asking for 15 mins, someone acknowledged that we are asking for the check. The staff did not even bother to give the check in a leather jacket, rather handed over a small paper printout of the bill which was insulting and made the place look like a cheap Chinese takeout place who cannot afford to even present checks decently.
Overall, even 2 stars for this place seems like generosity. Naila house is a much better property any day than this place and I highly recommend people to not waste their money, time and effort coming here.
Just to end my long note....jaipur guys wake up and smell the coffee plzzzzz. Learn to ask for better service - only then will you get it. Don't settle for anything less and give up this 'chalta hai' attitude. As for me, I was nothing less than completely embarassed to get my guests to this place. I will NEVER be coming back. I wish this feedback is taken in the spirit it deserves and the owners and managers put some effort in running the place. Owners plz don't take customers for...
