On The Rocks — Restaurant in Jodhpur

NOT A FINE DINING!!! RACISM!!! An over rated place where i wasted my time getting fooled by so many positive reviews suggesting that it’s a fine dining.

FULL STORY; I had called for making a reservation and response which I got from the other side was fantastic. As I entered the venue i was judged by my Indian appearance I was made to sit at a lower level facility. The place was semi-Hygienic. Menu book was not clean, had oily muk. The waiters were well trained, but not well qualified as it is supposed to be a fine dining. I am not sure if they suggest it as a fine dining, but the reviews of so many people says that it’s a fine dining place. THIS IS NOT A FINE DINING PLACE. The waiter came to take the order but was not knowledgeable enough to give suggestions or participate. Later on, I discovered that they also had an Asian menu. This is quite offensive that we were not even asked what is our preference. It was not even considered that they should ask our preference, rather we were judged by our Indian Skin. The food came and my Lal Mas had less salt, when I reported it, they just ignored it by saying that more salt can be added, but if it was over salted removing salt is a difficult thing. I didn’t refuse the food because I wanted to be polite, but it’s for sure that this is not what I had expected. If you are a Tourist, please don’t waste your time, getting fooled by the other positive reviews. It’s just a place which is like a well decorated Dhaba for an average food. I’m not sure if they have a chef, it seems that Amir Cook was hired to fix the table for us.

MORE DETAILS: The waiter kept staring at us and didn’t even consider to pour the water, when he saw me opening the water bottle then he got reminded and later on, then he came to pour it for us.

When we asked for finger bowls, he didn’t understand, then we were told that they don’t have the facility to bring finger bowls. Shout out to the staff who brought in some wet tissues instead.

The invoice which was presented to us was of a different table.

The washroom was located at a place a bit away from the dining area, and the way to the washroom was so dingy.

There is much more which can be written, however, that’s all I would like to convey.

Owners: Please don’t Judge the guests on the basis of Nationality. Please don’t over rate the place so that people raise their expectations and then later on their expectations are shattered! Please train the gate Staff to present the options and specify clearly what they serve and what all options they offer.

For Tourists: This place is over rated. Good for those who want a budget friendly food. Not at all good for those who want a perfect experience and a good time.

The place is unhygienic there was strand of hair on the plate when asked to change the plate they ignored us couple of times and when asked to atleast clean the plate they didn't bother to even do that, therefore Servicing is bad.

They don't serve water as soon as possible, You keep on calling them to do a single thing. Also when asked to bring normal water morevthan couple of times they served you bottled water after waiting for half an hour even when the place was not crowded. Also they cost you 40 rs for 20rs water. The plates were put on table after the arrival of food.

The food is not upto the mark as they charge quite high for every item. The barbeque chicken pizza and chicken tikka was bad because there was something bad with the quality of chicken or I think it was too old. Even the plating is bad it's like food is not served but thrown. They don't serve the food in plates individually and don't even ask for it.

The place is congested, the settlement of table is so close to every other table. as you can hear what people are speaking on next table.

There is no separate place to smoke, I am allergic to smoke and during our lunch about three people smoked right beside our table in the same small sitting area.

They charge you extra on each dish from what has mentioned against items in menu with the extra service charge and gst not on the whole bill but on each item which is wrong. It should be on whole bill one time service charge and gst should be added not on every item.

Lastly they don't give back coins which is left after billing. They are no one to take tips on their own it's our thing to give it or not. It's not their right to keep remaining money without even we keeping...
