Restaurant Review: Ohh , we liked it !
If you're cruising along the BM Bypass Road and happen to spot Cafe County, donât think twice about pulling over. The place is a hidden gem, and frankly, Iâm still scratching my head as to why there are some not-so-flattering reviews floating around đ¤. Iâve been here a few times, and every visit has been better than the lastâso much so, Iâm almost tempted to believe the naysayers mightâve stumbled into an alternate universe đ.
First off, the ambiance. It's not your typical roadside eatery. The place has come a long way from its previous 'just okay' days. The neatness is something to be applauded đ, and Iâm not talking about that âletâs throw everything on the floor and call it rusticâ charm some places claim. This cafe has genuinely upped its gameâclean floors, tidy tables, and just an overall crisp vibe that makes you feel like youâve been treated to an unexpected luxury stop on a road trip đđ¨.
Now, letâs get to the food đ˝ď¸. Oh, the biryanis! I donât know what kind of magic theyâve worked, but the biryani here has definitely stepped up its game. Itâs like theyâve taken that age-old recipe and added a dash of culinary wizardry â¨. Fluffy, fragrant, and packed with just the right amount of spices, it's now a must-try. You can practically hear the rice singing as it absorbs the rich flavorsâseriously, it's a melody for your taste buds đś.
The veg meals deserve a special mention too. A good veg meal can sometimes feel like a sad, underwhelming affair, but not here. Every componentâfrom the sabzi to the chapatiâis on point đ. They clearly know that vegetarians can appreciate well-cooked food just as much as meat lovers đĽŚđ. The fried rice was another delightful surpriseâcrispy, aromatic, and the perfect balance of veggies and seasoning đ. And donât even get me started on the paneer masala. I was half-expecting to find the paneer floating in a sea of gravy, but noâthis dish was a perfect combination of paneer cubes with just the right amount of masala to complement it đđ§.
Now, I wonât claim itâs the fanciest place in town, but Iâll tell you this: itâs the kind of place you wouldnât mind stopping by again on your way back from Hunsur đ. The service is friendly đ, the food is consistently good, and the improvements theyâve made in recent months are definitely worth noticing đ. Itâs always refreshing to see a place evolve, and Cafe County is proving that itâs no flash in the pan đ.
So, to those whoâve left negative reviews: I suspect you mightâve caught them on a bad dayâor maybe you were just grumpy from the long drive đ . Either way, give them another shot! Youâll be happily...
Read moreI am posting the review after a week since my visit, 'coz I wanted it be as honest as possible and not ruled by anger.
I have been to this place twice before and everything was top class, but this time. around I had horrible experience. The issues got nothing to do with covid restrictions or lockdown. It was just bad. There was plenty of crowd and it's been couple of months since lockdown was lifted so covid excuse is not a possibility.
The place was disgusting, literally unclean and unhygienic. (Nothing to do with COVID-19 precautions). When asked the table to be cleaned, they did clean in front of us using a soiled cloth so dirty and unwashed, which made me want to puke then and there. It was that gross. There was so much grime and dirt even after cleaning. The staff is not clear of what's on menu and what you get. Less menu is fine, we understand covid and all, but even after repeatedly asking that we don't need this particular thing or if it's not possible/available we will order something else from what's available. There was no water to wash hands and we had to wait and was given a jug(drinking water) to wash hands.
I can go on and on , on how unclean the place was. I would never visit again.
I am posting this because I want the restaurant to act on it . These are basic amenities any place with sit-in restaurant must have. 1.Clean tables 2.Running water to...
Read moreYears ago, when this was Cafe County, we used to stop for breakfast or evening tea. Later, Chettaiâs on Ring Road became our regular spot for lunch and dinner because of its good food. when we saw Cafe County rebranded as Chettaiâs, we decided to give it a try. but it turned out to be a huge disappointment.
To start with, the womenâs restroom had an open window, making it unsafe and uncomfortable. We visited in the evening for snacks and tea. The billing staff dropped off the menu, took our order, and then returned to say no snacks were available. I ordered tea instead, but it was almost cold. when I asked, they insisted it was freshly prepared. I quietly paid âš30 for a tea that stayed untouched on the table and left.
For a place claiming to be a Kerala restaurant, the menu had very few Kerala dishes and felt more like a standard North Indian style restaurant. The team also seemed to lack the authentic Kerala touch.
One more thing, donât go by the ratings. They are still using the same account from Cafe County, so most of the good ratings are for the old restaurant. When I came to rate Chettaiâs, I noticed my 6 year old CafeCounty rating was still showing.
Overall, very disappointing experience. definitely not...
