HOTEL MALABAR — Restaurant in Karnataka

There are many factories in the vicinity and until just a few years back, there weren't any restaurants that the workers of these factories could walk into for lunch. But, that's past, now there are quite a few options. But none any great yet. Well, anyway, Malabar is the pioneer. And perhaps the most successful too. They got it all that you would expect from a small town restaurant that could be named 'Malabar'; an A/c dining room, they accept credit card, prompt service and all the usual dishes on the menu like biriyani, kebabs, porota - aha no beef. Wink wink. They do also have the occasional special dishes like the clams. Reasonable ambience - for the location and light on wallet. Acceptable hygiene. If you are in the area, looking for a quick lunch, and not wanting to travel much, head over here. But do sit on their A/c room, much more comfortable. Be warned that lunch times are usually quite crowded, more due to the large volume of people wanting to eat, than due to their preference of this place.

Am editing this to add my breakfast experience at Malabar restaurant. So, today I was running late for my 1st shift, couldn't breakfast at home, neither could I carry my box. Office canteen had nothing to my liking, so I was kind of forced to come to Malabar for my breakfast. And well, today started off looking like it was going to be a disaster, but Malabar breakfast saves the day. This place ought to be famous for their tasty breakfast at very reasonable prices. Ugh! I feel the cringe just thinking about this place. First of all since it is the one of the very few restaurants around Jigani-Bommasandra link road, the responsibility of running the business well and making great food lies on the shoulders of the owner at this restaurant. I have no doubt in my mind that the owner is a extremely nice and soft spoken individual but the food at his place does not live upto any standard. They prepare a wide variety of Kerala style food and they are all authentic but the quality is too low. Last time I went, we were served a plate of grilled chicken which was probably a couple of days old by the looks of it.. we ended up throwing the entire thing out and a few of my friends even got sick. This has got to be one of the places that requires stringent checks of hygiene and food quality. I wouldn't recommend this place any...

Very unstable environment here. At times, the hotel staff are polite and service oriented but at other times, they are most confused, lost, impolite and rude people too. Hygiene is a 0, flies, unclean tables, untidy handwash and the list goes on.

The owner or the manager on the counter seems to believe he is above everyone and busiest of all the people in the world too.

Parking is very limited, if 4 wheeler you are om your own.

Food taste is very inconsistent, meaning some times it is the best but other times, same dish can be taste less. Not sure how they manage this.
