Read moreKamat Upachar group and their Yatrinivas highway hotel brand is one of the oldest chains in Karnataka . Many a Cafes/hotels might have come and gone but Kamat is the OG. Coming to Lokaruchi this particular outlet has been around since 1995 and can safely its their crown jewel
Now I have personally visited many Kamat outlets but today was my second visit in the space of a year. First thing that stands out is Kamat staff know how to make a family feel comfortable/welcome and at home. They ooze traditional kannadiga hospitality. Its not a formal made up one. You can sense the genuineness.
Next the food. Ive seen many reviews here bashing their hygiene and taste. I personally find both upto the mark. Taste is subjective but if you like over the top spiciness, Kamat isnt for you. Its not a joke to run a restaurant for decades with consistent quality and hospitality when you see many others open and close in the space of months. Infact most of the service staff and cooks have been with them for decades too. That says a lot about the management.
In both my visits I had their special Uttara Karnataka meals. Every item was served hot and fresh and what stood out was their curd . It feels like its made in house from milk. And one thing I d like to mention for those who havent tried , Kamat tea has a special place in my palate.

My recent visit to this place with family, Very horrible, The way they treated this time is not acceptable, For 3 and half years kid we should not share / feed our served food it seems, Literally not sure weather he is a owner or floor manager or floor watch keeper, he was standing next to us and watching weather we are feeding kid or not, For a movement we felt like why this guy staring our food plate like this, After few seconds he moved towards serving people and informing them to keep eye on us and asking them to not to share food with the kid, I ordered normal Meals and special me Along with for a kid we ordered separate plate of chapati (chargeable) as per serving, My wife she was not a foodie person, So she thought of for kid if he likes something from our plate she can feed him, but they literally behind us for every bite, whatever left over food in the plate we should not share or feed for kid it seems, Its kind of embrace movement for us this time, Finally we paid the bill and told the owner our experience, We do understand what is sharing and caring, Caring is something for kids we do with extra happiness, but I did not expect this time specially from Kamath hotel point of view, Road side food serving people far better then you guys, If this continues like this you people will see soon down fall in your business or loose family...
