This is one of the pathetic experiences that I have ever had with restaurants.Kamat upachar is one of the most reputed restaurants and hence we decided to visit there for breakfast. Below are the problems that we faced.

1.We ordered idli and they serve us kotte kadubu. Atleast a customer should be informed that if the ordered dish is empty. They served it straight away. When asked they give a blunt reply that idlis are empty. 2.Atleast after the pandemic has struck many restaurants have taken measures to implement safe and Heigenic atmosphere. But here the heigene part is 0.They provided plates with mud stains. When asked they are trying to cover it up by saying that it's banana leaf stains (so what????!!!)Plates are meant to be clean.Spoons were dirty and not cleaned. When we questioned the manager he denies all of this and doesn't even take customer feedback. He is least bothered about what we said. Please think twice before you...

I visited this place during my journey to Bengaluru by bus. I was traveling with KSRTC. They made a stop at around 3:30-4pm. The place is very clean and air conditioned. There is no choice for AC and non AC. I had a Thuppa Dose and a Sev Puri with tea. Thuppa Dose was served with Chutney and Sambar - Dose was really crispy and no complaints with Chutney or Sambar. All just blended tastefully. Sev Puri - wasn't the worst, but the Puri was flat ones. Not the regular puris which is served for Sev Puri. Price was a bit overwhelming. For just the above consumption, I was billed 350+. Then I tried a pan on the outer stall, there were around 10s of variety of pan. I had a normal one, it was yum. Toilet - huge toilet, something like the ones you find in malls and well maintained. It was clean and I was...

This facility of the Kamat chain of restaurants is not an ideal location for any meal given the age of this facility. The billing counter which is right at the gate of this hotel itself is sample enough to show what one can expect inside. Their ready-to-eat snacks displayed lack cleanliness in their packets as these are not cleaned or wiped to keep away the highway dust. The hotel itself is poorly lit and does not give a foody any great environment to enjoy their food. This facility mostly survives on travelers on a few state/government buses that use this facility as their lunch/dinner and bio-breaks. It is high time, that Team Kamat reviews this eatery and revamps to attract more customers who look forward to the traditional Kamat service that you see in their...

We went to Kamat Upachar Kunigal twice, once on the way from TN to KL and once on the way back, both times for lunch. Food is excellent, but serving is slow and quantity is comparatively low. Also if you are a walk in customer and simultaneously a KSRTC bus brings customers to the hotel, you will be served last after all the KSRTC customers are served. It happened to us both times. Hotel is spacious, clean but sometimes smoke from the kitchen entered the dining space. Plenty of toilets available and they are maintained cleanly. Cell reception is poor inside the hotel so if you're paying the bill online by Paytm/ gpay / phonepe etc, you need to step out of the hotel to catch 4G signal.

I visited Kamath Upachar at late night while travelling to Shimoga. This seems to be a common stop for most KSRTC and private buses for dinner or a short break. It appears to be one of the few (if not the only) pure vegetarian restaurants open late on the Hassan highway. The food options available at night are quite limited — mainly idly, vada, bajji, dosa, fried rice, fruit bowls and tea/coffee. Taste was just okay. Nothing special, but does the job if you’re hungry. One downside was the cleanliness, the toilets weren’t well-maintained and not hygiene. Still, it’s a convenient stop when you’re on the road and don’t have many choices that late.

I had two plates Idli and 2 plates of Mangalore buns which and a coffee which costed me 150₹. The taste was very good and staffs are very kind and helpful. You can get local special food like Mangalore buns and kotte idli/moode(idli wrapped in leaflet).Which is a local food of Mangalore which you can try whenever you visit this place. This hotel got 2 storeys of dining one on the ground floor for casual one and another for fine dine. The ambience of the restaurant was good I really liked hotel architecture made by laterite rock. Overall experience was good I suggest you visit this place for a yummy day.
