Disappointing Experience

I visited this restaurant with my family and was very disappointed by both the food and the service.

Food Quality We ordered a vegetarian meal (rasam rice), neer dosa, starters and leg soup. None of the dishes arrived hot— even the chicken sukka was only room temperature. The squid ghee roast was overcooked and tasted below average. The fish fry was underdone and the flesh was still raw in places. We waited over ten minutes for extra rice and another fifteen minutes for the bill, because no staff member was around to help.

Service From the start, the staff insisted they couldn’t serve sambar with the veg meal, then referred to it as rasam rice—this confusion set a poor tone. The server appeared indifferent and unprofessional in his attire and attitude, as though we were inconveniencing him by dining there. When I tried to share constructive feedback, no one was willing to listen. Instead, the server simply walked away.

Final Thoughts If we hadn’t had children with us, I would have spoken up much more forcefully about the cold food and lack of attention. A word of advice to any staff from Udupi & Kundapura working here: you’ll earn respect by showing respect to your guests.
