A Flavorful Stop on the Highway
Pakashala Delivers Authentic South Indian Breakfast
Pakashala, conveniently located on the highway, offers a welcome respite for travelers and locals alike, boasting a menu that spans authentic South Indian breakfast and lunch, alongside North Indian and Chinese dishes. Our visit, around 8:30 AM, focused on their breakfast offerings, and largely, it was a delightful experience. We started with the classic Idly & Vada Sambar Dip, and were pleased with the taste. Both the idlis and vadas were well-prepared, and the sambar had a comforting, authentic flavor that paired perfectly. This is definitely a reliable choice for those craving traditional South Indian comfort food.
Next, we ventured to try the Appam, which unfortunately proved to be the weak link in our meal. While appam is typically known for its soft, fluffy center and slightly crisp edges, Pakashala's rendition was quite dry and notably sticky at the bottom. This detracted from the expected texture and enjoyment of the dish, making it one we'd advise skipping on future visits.
However, the highlight of our breakfast spread was undoubtedly the Masala Dosa. It was prepared to perfection – wonderfully crisp at the edges, providing a satisfying crunch, and beautifully soft in the center, characteristic of a well-made dosa. The potato masala filling was flavorful and complemented the dosa impeccably. This dish alone makes a strong case for a return visit.
To round off our meal, we enjoyed a cup of coffee, which was spot on. It had the perfect balance of strength and sweetness, making it a fitting conclusion to a predominantly satisfying breakfast. In conclusion, Pakashala is a commendable spot, especially for those seeking an authentic South Indian breakfast experience on the highway. While the appam was a miss, the delicious Idly & Vada Sambar Dip, the perfectly crafted Masala Dosa, and excellent coffee more than made up for it. We will definitely recommend Pakashala to anyone looking to enjoy a hearty and authentic South Indian breakfast. We look forward to trying their lunch options and exploring more of their menu on...
