The Kalyani Bar — Restaurant in Karnataka

One of the worst experience of my life. We reached the resort on our first night in Chikmagalur and were looking for a decent experience. After enquiring about the cuisines and restaurants we agreed to pay 500 per head as cover charge. Restaurant promised us food, liquor, bonfire etc. included in the cover charge. Now when we reached bonfire area, it was full of smoke, no one was sitting there as the ambience was ruined by the smoke. So problem 1-Hotel staff was incapable of making a decent bonfire. Now, we decided to sit inside, but soon realize that some big insects were jumping inside the restaurants, two of them landed on my friends face. We were hungry, so we decided to push through and decided to order noodles. As soon as we expressed interest in noodle, hotel staff told us that they were out of noodles, there were barely 2-3 other families and at 8 o clock in the night, these morons were out of noodle and that too after they had the already taken cover charge from us. We still pushed through and ordered few items, starter and main course. The service was terrible, they brought spring roll which were cold from inside (I mean how is it even possible to make such spring rolls). We had ordered chicken starter that came after we were done with out main course. (Delay of almost 45 mins). Now out of the 4 of us, 1 guy was a vegetarian (unlucky me) and I ordered lasagna for my self. They came back with lasagna after an hour by when my friends were done with their dinner and I was famished. All this drama was too much to handle and we complaint multiple times, however instead of providing a good resolution staff was trying to ghost us. Eventually after lot of arguments and drama, they agreed to refund half of the money that we paid, but the experience that we got was already ruined and this incident will be etched in my memory for a long time. I'm still trying to process the unmitigated disaster that was my recent visit to this restaurant. The sheer incompetence and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction are an insult to the very concept of dining out.

We walked in with moderate expectations, but what we got was a masterclass in mismanagement. The waiting time was a staggering 1 hour, which would have been tolerable if the food had been worth it. But alas, it was not meant to be.

When our orders finally arrived, we were shocked to discover that the food was COLD. Not just lukewarm, but genuinely cold. It was as if they had taken the food out of the refrigerator and served it to us without even bothering to heat it up.

But that was just the beginning. Our orders were incorrect, with missing items and wrong dishes. We had to send the food back not once, not twice, but THREE times before they finally got it right. And even then, it was a half-hearted attempt at best.

All the fried rice and noodles were Chinese chicken items, which, upon closer inspection, contained NO CHICKEN WHATSOEVER. I repeat: NO CHICKEN. It was as if they had taken a few sad vegetables, tossed them in a wok, and served it to us with a straight face.

The service was abysmal, with our server seemingly oblivious to our plight. When we politely brought the issues to their attention, they seemed put off, as if we were somehow inconveniencing them.

In conclusion, this restaurant is an affront to the culinary world. The food is cold, the service is atrocious, and the management is clearly clueless. Avoid this dump at all costs, lest you wish to subject yourself to a dining experience that will leave you questioning the very fabric of reality.

Kalyani Bar in located inside Vismita County, a resort hidden off the main road. It's a beautiful property surrounded with lush greenery. Their seating is almost open as they have roll up blinds in the bar to create nice cozy and corner feel. The bar manager Mr Timson Belliappa, popularly known as just Belliappa, was very kind and courteous in suggesting the food and drinks. Akash too from the bar was very kind and quick in preparing our orders. Their food and presentation is amazing and very appetising.
