Best in town for bisibele bath and Masale dose Vasu Hotel, around two hours away from the ooru, is a perfectly-kept foodies’ secret for delicious brekkie! It’s time to take over the wheels and get set for a drive to Kanakapura! Dosa is an example of how some of the most amazing things in life have a simple origin and then go on to have interesting new variants. This breakfast staple has definitely evolved into new forms with each South Indian city and perhaps, each tiffin room, giving its own touch to the dish. This applies to Vasu Hotel’s famed Masala Dosas too. Located in Kanakapura, Vasu Hotel has been serving its iconic Masala Dosa, a crowd favourite, for the last 60 years. Enter the hotel and the dosa’s aroma will catch your attention. But what makes the dosa so special? Well, for starters, the dosa comes loaded with a thick filling of the alugadde palya (aloo masala). Also, it goes easy on your wallet at just Rs. 35! But the game-changer here has to be the Garlic chutney, smeared by the experienced cooks of Vasu Hotel. So, what you get is an irresistible blend of the alugadde palya and the garlic chutney on the dosa with the perfect ratio of thickness and crispiness. Along with some filter coffee, we can ensure the completion of a refreshing breakfast. Now, this is definitely the motivation we are looking for to hit the wheels and set out on a highway drive for an amazing morning dosa. Where: Near KSRTC Bus Stand, Kanakapura When: 5:30 am to 7:30 pm Price: Rs 10 onwards

Had the best masale dosae of my life here. Hotel Vasu - is a well known restaurant in Kanakapura and I happened to visit on my way to Pyramid Valley. The dosaes here are a perfect combination of crunch and softness and the quantity is just too great! Melt in the mouth fantastic. It’s always packed because of its popularity. The prices are very nominal. A dosae costs ₹40 and filter coffee ₹10. Since it’s a small place please don’t expect ambience. Just go for good food and vibes and you won’t be disappointed. Their Dil leaves amboDe (falafel type baji) is fantastic, along with makhmal poori as dessert. Owner is a very sweet person too. I was reading other reviews here and was actually disappointed how some are badmouthing about this great place. Some people act like they’re some great food bloggers when they actually know nothing about food and expect Taj like experience everywhere for ₹40 dosa. It’s sad and hilarious at the same time 😂 Anyway, try their food and hope you like it. P.S. like I said it’s a small space so figure out parking on your own. Explore Kanakapura the way you should 😇

Review What a nice place for breakfast!! It’s such a small cosy place with minimal interiors, just a few tables to stand and have food along with a limited number of seats. Speaking about the food, OMG it’s soo good, the idlys are cloud like soft and dipped in sambar it’s just heavenly good, the masala dosa is also a must have, I didn’t realise this as I was eating but they are apparently quite famous for their dosa and rightly so, it was just brilliant. The chutney and sambar also excellent and an absolute must have accompaniment for idly and dosa. I also prefer self service in these kind of places for breakfast as it is much quicker and you get the freshest food. Overall it’s a must visit if you in Kanakapura or happen to travel past. There is no real parking space as such, you will have to find some space on the main road or some other side roads, however if you go early morning as we did this should not be much of a problem. Rating breakdown Overall - 4.5/5 Food - 5/5 Price - 5/5 Parking - 3.5/5
