This is purely my personal experience and I am truly honest towards what I experienced.
I recently had the opportunity to visit this restaurant that left a lasting impression on me, but unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons. While the food was undeniably good and the ambience truly magnificent, the service staff's behavior was nothing short of disappointing. It's a shame that such a crucial aspect of the dining experience fell so short in this restaurant.
Upon entering the restaurant with my family, we were immediately greeted by the unwelcoming face of the front desk manager. Despite this initial discouragement, we decided to give the place a chance and proceeded to explore the interior. We entered the vegetarian hall, only to find that the service waiters had a noticeable attitude problem and did not make us feel welcomed at all. However, we decided to overlook this and proceeded to place our order.
To our delight, the food turned out to be excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. However, our positive experience quickly took a turn for the worse when it came time to settle the bill. The waiter presented us with the bill in a book, and we opted to make the payment through Google Pay. It was at this point that the arrogant behavior of the waiters began to shine through. They seemed to be expecting a tip, despite the fact that we had not received the level of customer service that would warrant it.
As someone who values excellent customer service, I'm always willing to tip generously when it's deserved. However, in this particular restaurant, I never received the warm welcome and attentiveness that I believe is necessary to earn such acknowledgment. Consequently, I was reluctant to pay anything extra. To my dismay, as my family and I were leaving the restaurant, we witnessed the service waiters slam the bill book down with an arrogant face and attitude. It was an appalling display of unprofessionalism and left me deeply disappointed.
I feel compelled to address this matter with the management of the restaurant. While the food and ambience are undeniably commendable, the behavior of the service staff threatens to overshadow these positives. It is my sincere hope that the management takes this matter seriously and addresses the issue of their staff's attitude. Read moreFood safety alert On 24 June 2024, we 4 visited Astoria annapoorna restaurant and consumed chicken biriyani,mutton biriyani, chicken noodles, non veg meal,lemon, pineapple juice and sharja shake. Unfortunately, within a few hours after our meal I started experiencing severe symptoms of food poisoning including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain. Due to the severity of our symptoms, we sought medical attention and were admitted to the ER.
The attending physician confirmed that the symptoms were consistent with food borne illness and the food we consumed at your restaurant was identified as the likely source. I was treated and discharged from the hospital ER .
But, after 1 day, my husband got the same symptoms and went back to the ER. He got admitted at ER and they started him on IV fluids .That means my wife was the only one who had chicken noodles and shake and she shared few spoons with me too.
Later on with in a week I woke up with severe abdominal pain in the midnight and went to ER again.they has done some blood works which shows infections related to food poisoning. Therefore I was started on oral antibiotic I was a Breast feeding mother with 6 months old baby at that time. I was very weak and not even able to feed our baby . This incident has added considerable stress and worry, as our baby relies heavily on breastfeeding for nutrition and comfort.
Additionally, as a direct result of this food poisoning incident, we had to cancel our long waited planned trips to vellankanni church and Thailand .This involved substantial non- refundable expenses, including airfare, accommodation and tour bookings , resulting in a significant financial loss as our doctor recommended not to have any food from outside for few weeks and she is having severe infection. I reported to food safety authority about this incident and after the inspection they found expired milk as well as this restaurant is adding milk to a same container which have old milk. Read moreI recently visited Astoria Annapoorna Restaurant and I must say it was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Despite its decent exterior, the interior was filthy and infested with houseflies. The service from the staff was abysmal, especially the supplier who seemed to have a major attitude problem.
To make matters worse, when I requested a tissue paper, he disgraced me by shouting in front of other customers, as if I had committed a grave offense. It was a completely uncalled for and embarrassing situation.
When I inquired about the portion size of the food, the staff was unclear and provided no helpful information. Eventually, when they served the food, the portion size was excessively large, leading to unnecessary food wastage. When I politely requested a lesser portion, the supplier insisted that once the food was ordered, it couldn't be taken back. However, after some argument, he reluctantly took back the plate and gave me a half portion. Shockingly, when I received the bill, I was charged for both the full and half portion, which is completely unacceptable and unfair.
Overall, I would strongly advise against dining at Astoria Annapoorna Restaurant. The uncleanliness, unprofessional behavior of the staff, and their lack of transparency regarding portion sizes and billing make it a place to avoid at all costs.
