One of my favourite spots for a quick bite in the evenings. Chennai Anand Bhavan is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the Nadathara area. In the evenings, I usually visit with my father for a Dosa or Chapati.
Menu:
The menu features an array of North Indian, South Indian, and Chinese specialties. I haven't seen their printed menu card, and on the majority of my visits, I typically order by request.
Customer Service
The service and hospitality are excellent. The staff is courteous and attentive. I didn't have to wait long to get my orders. Special thanks to their staff Radhakrishnan for his amazing customer service. He use to be our attendant during most of my visits. He is very friendly, courteous and attentive. He ensures that the order reaches to the table on time. He normally keeps an eye on the table on which he attended to ensure that customers need anything extra. It was a great hospitality shown by him
Place: The facility is clean and well-kept. Additionally, they provide luxurious parking spaces where you can easily park your vehicle. Additionally, restrooms are kept clean and well-maintained. Due to the restaurant's location on the main road leading to Palakkad, it's a convenient stop for a quick bite/refreshment if you're travelling this route.
Food & Drinks
I've ordered Ghee Roast/ Masala Dosa for the majority of my visits. Their Ghee roast is delectable, and I ordered it on my previous visit. The presentation of the Ghee Roast is also impressive, with a mini dosa perched on top of the main Roast, which is arranged in a conical shape on the plate. Two chutney varieties in small bowls and one small bowl of sambar were provided as accompaniments. Although the accompaniments were tasty, their quantity was insufficient for the Ghee roast, and it ended up requesting more. My personal favourite dish from here is the Uzhunnu Vada (Medhu Vada), which I make a point of ordering on the majority of my visits. Fresh and crispy vada is served here. Once it reaches our table, we can feel that heat. The best time to visit them is in the evening when they will prepare freshly prepared vadas. Vada is frequently served with two chutneys, with the exception of sambar. Suppose you order Vada along with Ghee Roast/Masala. It will be served along with the Dosa, and you have to manage with the accompaniments that were provided for Dosa. I had also tried their Onion Oothappam and it was also good.
Masala Dosa was also excellent and could be a good evening meal option. Additionally, I sampled their Chapati, Gobi Manchurian Dry, and Kurma curries. The chapati is tender, and the Kurma curry is delectable. Having it in the evenings is a good choice. Chapati Kurma is a combo dish that costs Rs 60 and includes two chapatis, one bowl of Kurma curry, and one bowl of raita. Although the flavor of Gobi Manchurian Dry is acceptable, I found the quantity to be depressing. I felt that the price (Rs 170) was excessive for that much Gobi Manchurian dry. Their filter coffee is also great. A good refresher but the cost is bit expensive.
Apart from that, everything meets expectations, and this is an excellent spot for families to grab a quick bite/evening snacks—a perfect spot for a quick break and refueling if you're travelling along this route.
Cost Factor:
Cost is standard and it can cost between 200 and 300 for 2 people if you order a quick bite, dosas, and a coffee/tea.
Masala Dosa - Rs 75 Onion Oothappam - Rs 80 Vada - Rs...
Read moreI had a wonderful breakfast experience at Chennai Ananda Bhavan, and I must say, this place truly lives up to its reputation for serving authentic and delicious South Indian food.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, well-maintained, and had a pleasant South Indian vibe. The staff was polite, quick to take orders, and ensured that everything was served fresh and hot.
I ordered Idli, Sambar, and Uzhunnu Vada, and it was simply amazing. The idlis were soft, fluffy, and perfectly steamed, just the way they should be. The sambar had a rich and flavorful taste, with the right blend of spices, making it a perfect combination with the idli. The Uzhunnu Vada was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, giving that perfect crunch with every bite.
One of the best things about this place is their chutneys—they serve coconut chutney, tomato chutney, and mint chutney, all of which were fresh and packed with authentic flavors. The quality of ingredients used in their food is clearly noticeable, and every bite feels like a treat.
Another highlight was the tea I had after 40 KM of riding. It was strong, refreshing, and exactly what I needed to re-energize. The service was fast, and even though the place was busy, the staff handled everything efficiently without any delays.
Overall, Chennai Ananda Bhavan is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying South Indian breakfast. Whether you’re a traveler, a local, or just someone who loves great food, this place will not disappoint. The taste, service, and cleanliness make it stand out as one of the best vegetarian restaurants.
I’ll definitely be visiting again whenever I get the chance. Highly...
Read moreI recently visited a restaurant that is conveniently located near NH and I found it to be easily accessible. One of the first things I noticed was the spacious parking lot, which was a definite plus point. It provided ample parking space, ensuring that I didn't have to worry about finding a spot for my vehicle. Moving on to the interior, I was pleased to see that the seating arrangement was well-planned and comfortable. The restaurant had made good use of the available space, providing ample seating options for customers. Additionally, I was impressed with the level of hygiene maintained throughout the establishment. Cleanliness is an important aspect for me, and this restaurant didn't disappoint in that regard. When it came to the food, I had two choices for rice – ponni rice and matta rice. It was nice to have options, as it catered to different preferences. However, I found the overall food quality to be average. The taste was decent, but it didn't stand out as exceptional. Similarly, the service provided by the staff was also average, without any standout moments. One aspect that did disappoint me was the pricing. In comparison to other vegetarian hotels, I felt that the prices here were slightly higher. While the overall experience was satisfactory, the pricing seemed a bit steep considering the average quality of the food and service. In conclusion, this restaurant offers easy accessibility, ample parking, comfortable seating, and maintains good hygiene. However, the average food and service, coupled with relatively higher pricing compared to similar establishments, make it fall short of being...
